While the Bitcoin buzz has started to wane, many are still campaigning for full cryptocurrency adoption. This is due to a new set of businesses advertising the fact that they will take payments in the digital currency format. Just this week, one car dealership has announced they will also be approving payments made for luxury cars with Bitcoins. Post Oak Motors, found in Houston, America, said that they will be processing these payments through BitPay. This means, if you fancy buying a Roller with Bitcoin, you do not have to be in the area, simply processing the payment on your smartphone.
While a step forward for the promotion of Bitcoin transactions, many are branding this a rumour rather than an actual payment method that people can use for cars.
With so many people using such announcements as a PR gimmick, some may be questioning whether this is legitimate or not. But, after reviewing the company’s blog, it seems to shape up!
Post Oak Motor Cars’ owner, Tilman Fertitta, released a statement on the company’s blog, saying that “the rising of Bitcoin sparked my interest”.
“Being a premier luxury car dealer, I always want to offer my customers the very best buying experience and this partnership will allow anyone around the world to purchase our vehicles faster and easier.”
While an admirably professional and forward-thinking business owner, his announcement could not have come at a worse time. Just yesterday, the performance of the cryptocurrency was worse than pour, plummeting a disastrous 10%.
Let us know what you think. Are we in a position where we should be purchasing large items such as luxury cars and houses with Bitcoin? Leave your thoughts and opinions on the subject below. We would love to hear them!
