Heavy snowfall meant Rochdale bride's vintage wedding car had to be cancelled

They say you should be careful what you wish for, and that’s something bride Louise Boardman will certainly remember to bear in mind. The 27-year-old certainly got more than she bargained for when she wished for a white wedding.

The drama began on Louise’s wedding morning when she awoke to a thick blanket of snow covering her childhood home in Shawclough in Rochdale. The chauffeur driven vintage wedding car she’d booked months in advance had to be cancelled as the roads were covered in snow and there was no way of the vehicle reaching them.

Luckily locals, friends, and family were more than happy to step into the breach and an alternative wedding car was found in the form of a Chrysler 4×4. Louise said “Dad was dreading telling me that the wedding car was cancelled” but the bride-to-be took it all in her stride and made her way to her waiting wedding car wearing her alternative wedding shoes, a pair of cosy ugg boots.

The 70 wedding guests and the groom were left anxiously waiting at the church. The journey to reach the church would normally take 15 minutes, but due to the heavy snow, it took them over an hour. After a quick change of footwear from ugg boots to wedding heels, Louise finally made it down the aisle.

After their snowy wedding the newlyweds were more than happy to escape the cold winter weather and head off on their honeymoon in the sun-soaked Maldives.
