Rolls Royce is a car brand that we all know to be pretty pricey, with your average new Roller costing around £300k. That’s before any customisations and added extras!
However, the more unique the Rolls Royce, the bigger the price tag.
This week, one of the most wonderfully bizarre Rolls Royce Phantoms was purchased, with the ‘Art Car’ bought for an eye-watering £888k!
So, what is so special about this particular vehicle?
Well, its biggest, attractive feature is no doubt its livery, featuring artwork from the iconic visual artist, Marc Quinn.
Created by Rolls Royce alongside the famous sculptor, this is very much a limited edition vehicle, inspired by Quinn’s collection named “We Share Our Chemistry with the Stars”.
Sold at a special, private auction for a group of philanthropists, the “Evelina Art for Allergy x Dine on the Line event’ was as hosted at the home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood.
Bringing some of the most dedicated car collectors together, the auction was a huge success, with all proceeds going to allergy research at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Due to the success of the auction, the buyer will commission another of these artwork Rollers.
“Rolls-Royce is deeply privileged to have worked with Evelina London on this exceptional event. We are thrilled that Marc Quinn’s artwork, using Phantom as the canvas, raised a fabulous £888,000 and are humbled that nearly £2million was raised in total throughout the evening for this centre of medical excellence in London,” said Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO, Torsten Müller-Ötvös.
