Here at Limo Broker, we love two things; great cars and big weddings! This is why we are rather excited to see what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be making their way to The Windsor Castle in on 19th May 2018. Expected to tie the knot in true style; nothing screams British eccentricity more than a chauffeur car fit for a Princess.
Whilst there are many rumours surrounding the cars to be used by the wedding party, only on the day will the vehicle be uncovered. So, until then we thought we would take a look at our top royal wedding cars of all time.
Kate and Wills – Aston Martin DB6 Mk2 Volante
Although much talk surrounded Pippa Middleton’s dress, the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was truly something, with their cars being the talk of the transport world. Departing in an Aston Martin DB6 Mk2 Volante, the royals travelled from Buckingham Palace to Clarence House in the droptop driven by Prince William. Sporting the eye-wateringly expensive numberplate, ‘JUST WED’, the car is said to have been a gift from the Queen to Prince Charles many moons ago.
Grace Kelly and Prince Rainer III – Royce Royce Silver Wraith
As one of the most iconic weddings of our time, when Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier III, no expense was spared, especially when it came to transport. Making her grand entrance in a Rolls Royce Royce Silver Wraith, the American movie star then went on a tour of Monte Carlo in the open-top car; starting royal life in true style. Presented to them by Rolls Royce, the car was actually a wedding gift from the British manufacturers. Reporting at the time was the British Pathé, saying the couple received “presents from kings and queens, presidents and commoners, movie magnates and millionaires”.
The Sultan of Brunei – The Rolls Royce Super Spur Limo
Now, when talking about eccentric royal wedding cars, we simply could not leave out the Rolls Royce Super Spur Limo, an amazingly-unique car used by The Sultan of Brunei on his son’s wedding day. With the Sultan car collection said to be worth $4bn, this gold-plated limo is rumoured to have set the family back a substantial $14m; but why? Well, with each part of the vehicle adorned in precious gold, luxury seating and a cabin not dissimilar to a luxury apartment, this custom-built limo is truly spectacular. Taking a front seat at the royal wedding, the family apparently embarked on a five-mile parade across Brunei’s capital on the big day.
Harry and Meghan – British Vs. America
On track to be the most lavish royal wedding we’ve seen in a long time, we are well and truly being kept in the dark about the details of the big day. However, will we be ripping up the royal wedding rulebook and see the couple travel in American cars? Let us know your thoughts.
