Former England defender Sol Campbell pulled out all of the stops for his wedding to long-term love Fiona Barratt earlier this month, opting for a luxury Rolls Royce limousine for his wedding day transportation.
The 35-year-old footballer married 29-year-old interior designer Fiona, the granddaughter of Sir Lawrie Barratt who founded Barratt Homes, in a beautiful eighth century church in Northumberland. The church was decked out with white flowers and the grounds to the building were cordoned off especially for the nuptials.
A number of high profile guests were present at the lavish ceremony including, notably, footballer Ashley Cole who attended the wedding alone following the well documented split from his wife, the singer Cheryl Cole earlier this year. Other celebrity guests at the Northumberland nuptials included chef, Ainsley Harriott and fellow footballer Rio Ferdinand.
The newlyweds were cheered on by their guests and showered with confetti as they made their way out from the church to the waiting Rolls Royce wedding car after the ceremony. As the youngest of 12 children, Sol is part of a large family so the wedding was a big occasion. At one point the road outside the church was reported to have been blocked due to the large number of wedding guests.
