Queen Elizabeth’s Rolls Royce on sale for £2m
Just last week, we heard the news that Prince Harry put his Audi up for sale, asking a respectable £72,000 for the modified RS6 Avant. But, it appears that Harry’s is not the only royal wheels up for sale. The Queen’s Rolls Royce is set feature in a line up of prestigious cars up for auction, including marques owned by Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana.
Scheduled to be sold by Bonhams auction house, the cars on offer are expected to fetch a whopping £5m.
1953 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV State Landaulette
One of the highlights of this auction is the 1953 Rolls Royce Phantom IV State Landaulette; a car that has previously been used by our Queen. Used on state visits and prior engagements, the car has been with the royal family for four decades. Boasting a top estimate of £2m, this popular model has been a favourite of many royals, including Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, on her wedding day in May.
“There were only 18 of the Phantom IVs built, and they were bought by heads of state or dignitaries,” said Bonhams’ co-chairman, Malcolm Barber.
“None are exactly the same, and they’re all built to special order. Even if you are a Rolls-Royce collector, you wouldn’t have anything similar, because each has its own identity.”
While undoubtedly the main attraction of the auction, there are also many other extraordinary cars up for grabs. These include:
- 1960 Phantom V State Limousine
- A 1985 “Centenary” Silver Spur Saloon
- 2002 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph Park Ward
- 2002 Rolls-Royce Seraph Saloon
- 1995 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible IV
- 2002 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible
- 979 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI LimousineLet us know what you think, does the collection warrant a price tag of £5m?
