We all love a limo ride, but here’s a story to prove cats have their eyes on limo hire as well!
In an extraordinary event, a cat named Stuart who was thought to be lost has managed to secretly ride in a chauffeur-driven limo from Swindon to Bristol. It seems the feline limo lover made the unexpected journey in owner Simon Tofield’s luxury stretch limo.
The 52-year-old who runs his own limo hire company in Swindon suspects that his one-year-old black and white pet hitched a ride in one of his limos. He believes that the crafty kitty hitched a ride on a wedding limo hire in Stanton Fitzwarren, from where he then hitched another ride to Bristol.
After being vaccinated and neutered, Simon disappeared on 18 May, the first day he was let out of the house. A frantic Mr Tofield searched the area and put up posters, but had begun to give up hope of his pet returning home after more than a week of no news. It was only after the RSPCA called to say Stuart had been found and identified via his microchip in Bristol, that Mr Tofield realised that his cat was still alive and well.
“It’s amazing that he has got that far,” says the happy owner. “When I got the phone call I thought it would be the RSPCA in Swindon or somewhere nearby, but not Bristol. I drove down there and picked him up and brought him back and he’s as happy as Larry playing in the back garden again.
“I just think he’s extremely lucky that when he jumped out from the back of the limo he didn’t get run over. But the mystery is how he got from there to Bristol. It’s a complete mystery, and the only way I can think of is he has hitched a ride somehow.”
