Lamborghini is a supercar brand that we immediately associate with high-powered, petrol-guzzling vehicles, with such high-end brands seldom considering the environment when mocking up engine designs. However, Lamborghini has now announced that it will be launching its first hybrid vehicle. Exciting times!
The hybrid Lambo
Well, they have been talking up their cutting-edge hybrid technology for some years now, with the launch of this new car being much-anticipated. The grand unveiling will take place at the iconic Frankfurt Motor Show. There, the creation will be prodded, tested and analysed by some of transport industry’s greats.
Following in the footsteps of brands such as Audi and BMW, what exactly can we expect from the Italian manufacturing giants?
The truth is, nobody knows much about the car, apart from it is called the LB48H. This was confirmed by Federico Foschini, who also told that these cars would be limited edition. Creating just 63 units, what we do not know is the brand’s plans for hybrid cars following this.
According to various other sources, the LB48H will utilise an electric motor paired with a 6.5-liter V12 engine; a set-up that will result in 838 of horsepower. The eclectic engine will power the front wheels while the V12 will be responsible for keeping things ticking over at the rear; seeing each of the four wheels come together to create great speed and power.
And, there does seem to be an appetite for supercars that are not harmful to our planet, with every single one of the 63 cars created already sold.
