Former glamour model Katie Price received a £1,000 driving fine this week after two police officers claimed they witnessed her using a mobile phone while driving a pink horsebox.

The mother of three was driving the giant pink lorry to Euro Disney back in February when she was pulled over by the West Sussex police. There were four adults including Katie Price, and four children travelling onboard the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The patrol car pulled alongside the pink horsebox after the vehicle was seen to drift into another lane causing two other vehicles to pull out of the way quickly to avoid a collision. The policemen say they saw the 32-year-old reality TV star using her phone and video footage of the incident was also shown to the court.

Giving evidence in front of the court, Katie argued that she had no reason to use a mobile while driving as the horsebox is equipped with Bluetooth technology which allows the driver to use a mobile hands-free.

It transpired the model had only driven the large pink horsebox on two occasions prior to the incident, and she admitted the vehicle was unfamiliar to her as she said: “I’m not used to a lorry that big.”

Newlywed Katie, who already has seven points on her licence, had another three points added following the court hearing. She was also handed a £1,000 fine and ordered to pay costs of £650 and £15 surcharge fee. The model plans to appeal against the charge.
