Connie Fisher revealed she is “deliriously happy” after agreeing to marry her boyfriend Jeremy Reed. The 40 year old banker popped the question back stage after the opening night of The Sound of Music tour in Cardiff. The musical star is currently reprising the role of Maria which made her a household name after she won the BBC1 talent search “How do you solve a problem like Maria?”
The singer, who is originally from Pembrokeshire in West Wales, met her fiancé whilst waiting on a train station platform. Despite having a brief conversation the pair didn’t exchange numbers and ended up boarding on separate trains.
The meeting had such an impact on Jeremy that he called in a favour from a friend who knew the Welsh Tenor Bryn Terfel whom Connie had worked with previously. Bryn then played matchmaker and called Connie to ask if she would be interested in meeting up with the mystery train man.
In this case the course of true love did run smoothly as Connie had been secretly hoping to hear from the handsome stranger. On their first date the smitten banker presented Connie with a toy train as a memento of their initial encounter.
Only last September Connie told of her heartbreak after splitting from her boyfriend of 5 years, Neal Williams. The 25 year old singer explained her new found fame and hectic work schedule had put a strain on the relationship. But it seems Connie didn’t have to wait long to find Mr. Right, meeting her new boyfriend only two months after the break up.
No wedding details have been revealed as yet, and given that Connie is set to tour the U.K for the next 6 months, we may have to wait for news of the big day.
