golden globes 140109Superstar singing sensation Beyonce is eager to star in a movie version of the Sister Act stage show currently running in London’s West End. It comes after the Bootilicious star snuck into a performance of Sister Act the musical at the Palladium this week.

Beyonce will be touring the U.K later this year with her electrifying show I am Sasha Fierce. The opening night is set for Liverpool on November 11th before moving through most major U.K cities.

The Sister Act musical is due to open on Broadway in 2010, it would have been sooner had it not been for problems arising with the appointment of a director. Paul Schneider who directed the U.K version stepped aside in the weeks leading up to the West End debut. Veteran actress Sheila Hancock leads the London cast, having enjoyed recent success in another successful West End musical, Cabaret.

Beyonce reportedly has her sights set on the role made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the 1992 film version, Delores Van Cartier. The plot centres around Delores who disguises herself as a nun in order to escape the gangster underworld. It’s a heart warming, family friendly film, with great attitude and even better music. It is reported that Beyonce’s management are in talks with Disney to bring this stage sensation to the screen, with the former Destiny’s Child singer at the helm.

London’s West End has enjoyed a revival in recent times due to the popularity of TV searches to find the next generation of musical stars. Oliver! Starring Jodie Prenger, the winner of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s search for Nancy, is currently playing at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Rowan Atkinson will relinquish his role as Fagin on July 20th when it’s taken over by comedian Omid Djalili.
