It’s not unusual for couples to hire a traditional wedding car for their big day, in fact, it’s a very popular choice. However a couple from Neath in South Wales thought they’d go one better than a vintage Bentley and instead, invite a fleet of classic Minis to accompany them.
Stan Ball and Lydia Lottell held their wedding at Ramada Jarvis in Llansamulet last Saturday. The idea to have a procession of Minis came from the bride, who is a member of the South Wales Mini club.
Her fellow members were more than happy to escort the bridal party on their happy occasion. No less than 12 drivers in their classic Minis drove en-convoy with the wedding procession delighting passers-by and wedding guests so much so, that they almost upstaged the bride herself. The new Mrs Ball said “All our guests thought it was fantastic, everyone commented on how unusual it was and some were filming us as we drove through Tonna,”
The mother of one has been a fan of Minis since she can remember, buying her first one eight years ago. So when it came to choosing a wedding car, it was a no-brainer for the Mini mad bride as she explained “I adore classic minis and I wanted to break away from the traditional wedding car,”
The Club refused to take any money for their service, so the generous newlyweds make a donation of £250 to a charity instead. It may not be everyone’s choice but for this couple, the Mini wedding convoy made their day.
