Sister Act set for Palladium Theatre

A stage version of the hit comedy film Sister Act will open in the West End on June 2nd 2009.

The musical will be staged at the London Palladium Theatre and is likely to see droves of the film's fans turn out in car hire vehicles and limos for the opening night.

Whoopi Goldberg, who starred as Deloris, a singer on the run from gangsters disguised as a nun in the original film, will produce the play.

She said: "The best way for me to be a part of this new incarnation of Sister Act is to make sure everyone knows it's happening.

"The stage version of the show is fresh and new and I'm beyond thrilled to be part of it."

Sister Act will be co-produced by production company Stage Entertainment.

Oscar-winning song writer Alan Menken, famed for penning a number of classic Disney hits, will provide some of the music for the show.
