Fans walk out of Whitney Houston gig in London while others demand refunds

Let’s hope Whitney Houston had a fast limo waiting to whisk her away last night after the singer disappointed a packed out crowd of fans at London’s O2 Arena with her lack lustre performance.

According to recent reports, hundreds of Whitney fans walked out of the concert in dismay after the 46-year-old singer failed to get through some of her best loved hits during the show. The diva was not oblivious to the problem and even apologised to the crowd saying, “She doesn’t want to come, my soprano friend. Sometimes the old girl sings, but not tonight.”

It’s been reported that the singer gave a very ropey rendition of one of her biggest hits, I Will Always Love You, and even gave up halfway through The Greatest Love Of All. Whitney’s backing singers were said to have carried the diva through several of her numbers.

Some fans are calling for a refund, while others say the I Look To You Tour should be cancelled immediately to prevent other people wasting their money on tickets.

Several dates of the tour had to be cancelled recently after the Bodyguard star was diagnosed with a respiratory problem. Her first concert back was at Birmingham earlier this month where she gave another doubtful performance.

Last night’s concert at the O2 Arena was one of three scheduled performances at the London venue.

The legendary songstress had just touched down in Brisbane airport, Australia, when she was became enraged after her Mercedes Benz limo wasn’t waiting directly outside the terminal to greet her upon her arrival.

It’s been reported that the Bodyguard singer was heard yelling “this is bulls**t!” whilst waiting a whole 2 minutes for the silver limousine to turn up. An unfortunate passer-by also felt the full force of the wrath of Whitney when he suggested the singer take off her dark glasses and big hat and enjoy the sunny morning, she allegedly told the man in no uncertain terms: “mind your own f***ing business!” The limo chauffeur, when he arrived, is said to have fared much worse at the hands of the legendary US singer.

Whitney is in Brisbane to make two scheduled performances over the coming week. She’s due to take to the stage in Acer Arena, in Homebush on Wednesday, and Hunter Valley on Saturday. The 46-yearold is currently enjoying a comeback with the release of her new album I Look To You, and she also celebrated the 25th anniversary of her debut album in January by re-releasing the record.

Whitney Houston bags number one U.S album

Whitney Houston proved she is back on top form by clinching the number one spot on the U.S Billboard album charts this week. Not content will equally her previous chart success, the heavyweight songstress has managed to outdo herself by shifting 305,000 albums in one week, toppling her previous record and also grabbing the title of fastest selling album of the year so far.

Entitled I Look To You, the new album is Whitney’s first record since 2002. It signals a triumphant return to the limelight after keeping a low profile in recent years whilst she battled personal demons. The album goes on sale in the U.K on the 19th October and features collaborations with Alicia Keys and R Kelly.

The Bodyguard star recently underwent a grilling on the Oprah Winfrey Show which lasted for over an hour. Not surprisingly the singer was slightly hoarse following the gruelling performance and had to apologise to fans the following day at a concert in New York. The 5,000 strong crowd were more than happy to help the legendary singer out, joining in to sing some of her well known hits such as I’m Every Woman. Despite the crackly voice, Whitney said her Oprah appearance was “the best interview” she’d ever done. The episode is due to air next week.

If the U.S hype is anything to go by, it seems “The Voice” as she was known, is back with vengeance.
