American girl’s honesty rewarded with free limo ride

A schoolgirl from Great Falls in the US earned herself a free ride in a chauffeur driven limo after handing in a $100 bill she found on the floor.

9-year-old Samantha Vaughan was visiting the Montana State Fair with her mother Kathy Jenkins when she noticed, what she initially thought as a $10 bill, on the floor amongst some rubbish as the pair waited in the queue at a food stall.

After the school girl made the discovery, and realised it was a $100 bill, her mother asked her what she wanted to do with the money. Without hesitation the 9-year-old declared she wanted to hand the money in so it could be given back to its rightful owner.

Luckily for Samantha, the rightful owner of the $100 bill was also the boss of a local limousine hire company, Montana Luxury Limo.  Jim Cole was told that the money was handed in by a young girl, and so decided to get in contact with the youngster to reward her kind act.

With a white stretch limo at his disposal, limo hire company owner Mr Cole decided to show his appreciation by treating the school girl and a group of her friends to a ride in the luxury limo to a local ice cream parlour where all of the sundaes were on the house.

Speaking after the free limo ride, Samantha said her special day out was “worth way more than 100 bucks” with her mother Kathy adding that her daughter had had “one of the best days ever.”

Limo en route to wedding burst into flames

It’s believed the fire was caused by a faulty catalytic converter

It’s believed the fire was caused by a faulty catalytic converter

A wedding guest had to make a sharp exit from her chauffeur driven limo earlier this month after the white stretch limousine she was travelling in burst into flames.

66-year-old Margaret Lupi was making the one hour long trip to a wedding from her home in Verona, New Jersey USA when the fire broke out. A few minutes into the journey, Ms Lupi realised something was wrong as the heat inside the white limousine was unbearable.

The driver noticed flames coming out from the foot well so he pulled over, and helped the passenger out and onto the side of the road. Within minutes the limo was engulfed by flames. By the time the emergency services arrived, the fire had spread to a nearby telephone pole.

The fire fighters were quick to act and succeeded in extinguishing the fire within 2 minutes. Initially the fire team were unable to determine the cause of the blaze due to the extent of the damage caused. The limo was completely destroyed by the flames.

After further inspection, it is believed that the fire may have been caused by a faulty catalytic converter as the flames had burned a hole right through the point where this device was placed.

The owner of the limo said the vehicle had passed its vehicle inspection test just a few months earlier. The limo hire boss added that he’d never encountered anything similar to this accident in his 27-years in the industry.

Budding Welsh filmmakers head to their premiere in a white stretch limo

The teenage filmmakers were chauffeured to their film screening in a white luxury limousine

A pair of budding filmmakers were treated to a chauffeur driven limo ride to the screening of their award-winning film this week. A red carpet reception awaited 15-year-old Gruff Ellis, and 14-year-old Guto Sion Jones when their limousine drew up to the screening venue in the small village of Llandwrog, in Gwynedd North Wales.

The youngsters won first prize for their short film, Chwarae’n Troi’n Chwerw (The Vegas Showdown) at the Urdd Eisteddfod this year. Guto roped his family in to play all the lead roles in the movie which is based on gangsters swapping football cards.

The teenagers put a lot of hard work into their film venture, filming and editing the short film over the Christmas holidays. They certainly seem to be reaping the benefits now as they were met with a warm reception at the film’s screening last week as screaming fans were their to greet them as their limo pulled up to the red carpet.

US man gets limo ride home from jail

A man from Orlando in the US walked free from jail last Thursday and was whisked home in a chauffeur driven stretch limo as part of a surprise gift from his girlfriend.

Anthony Lee Sears, who’d just served a 5 months jail sentence for possessing a pain medicine, fleeing from police, and driving with a suspended sentence, was greeted by family and friends who were also onboard the white Ford Excursion limo to welcome him home.

Mr Sears’s 24-year-old partner, Crystal Charles, organised the big homecoming celebration complete with white limo hire, to show him “how much I love him.”

Since the beginning of November when the 26-year started his jail term, he missed a number of special occasions including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and his birthday. So his thoughtful partner decided to deck the home they share out with gifts and flowers to make up for missing these celebrations.

The 45-foot long stretch limo is more commonly used for events such as school proms, wedding day hire, and hen and stag dos. Picking up newly released prisoners from outside of jail is not high on the company’s list of requests.

The landscaper from Orange County is reported to be a repeat offender. According to police records, Sears has spent time inside nine times in the past six years.

Limos take over Indian town

Limos are becoming a very familiar sight in one Indian town

Limos are becoming a very familiar sight in one Indian town

Ludhiana is a small town in the northern state of Punjab in India which is slowly being taken over by stretch limousines. Car hire bosses and taxi drivers have taken advantage of a legal loophole in their local law which means that taxi cabs are not required to pay car tax.

Nothing says success like a shiny luxurious limo, which is why so many of these elongated vehicles are showing up in the town. The limousine is a serious status symbol and taxi owners are keen to display their wealth with a fleet of stretch limos.

It seems no taxi owner in the town wants to be outdone by another, which is why the number of limos is multiplying rapidly as the businessmen play a game of keeping-up- with-the-joneses. One taxi boss estimated there were about 400 limos in the Ludhiana already, he guessed the town could only cope with a further 100 before the roads became grid-locked with the stretch vehicles.

A limo dealer from Ludhiana, 46-year-old Amit Aggarwal, explained the town’s obsession with the stretch limo: “We’re a small place with big plans and having a limousine is a man’s opportunity to show off his status”

Despite the abundance of luxury cars in the town, the locals’ preferred form of transport is either a bicycle or a donkey.

One couple’s wedding limo turned out to be a big rig

Not your usual wedding limo

Forget your vintage Rolls Royce’s and your white stretch limos, one couple from Kilmarnock shunned tradition and arrived at the church in a 30 foot long lorry on their wedding day.

The happy pair, Sandy Mortimer and Tracy Surgeon, were unaware of the wedding car hire which had been booked on their behalf by a family member. But far from being a practical joke, Sandy’s Uncle Ian had good intentions at heart as Sandy explained: “My dad Jim was a lorry driver for over 35 years. It was a really heartwarming surprise and brought back a lot of memories for me.”

Needless to say the whole wedding party also appreciated the unusual choice of wedding car and many clambered aboard and enjoyed a ride to a nearby park to take part in the wedding photographs. The big rig then transported the rest of the wedding crew to the reception at Howard Park Hotel.

It seems the colossal truck certainly proved a talking point in the town with crowds of local people stopping to catch a glimpse of the unconventional wedding car. The groom said that he and his bride felt “like celebrities for the day” with “Everybody in the town looking and waving.” Whether they’ve started a craze of wedding trucks in Kilmarnock remains to be seen, but these newlyweds certainly had a day to remember with their chauffeur driven big rig.
