Wedding cars cause traffic chaos in China

china-wedding-car

As the eighth day of the Chinese Lunar Year, January 30th 2012 was deemed a very lucky day for brides and grooms to tie the knot. However the sheer volume of newlyweds on the roads on China’s east province of Zhejiang in their wedding cars caused a headache for other roads users causing gridlocked traffic as hoards of brides and grooms flocked to get their photographs taken at the nearby park.

It’s customary for newly married couples to drive a lap around the Taizhou government square in the east province of China, however due to the large number of couples getting married on this highly auspicious day, this caused major repercussions as wedding cars decorated with flowers and ribbons brought the rest of the traffic to a standstill due to the large volume of wedding cars all attempting to do the same thing.

Brides and grooms, along with their photographers, headed in their droves to the town hall and nearby park to pose for their wedding photographs, with many wedding cars simply being pulled up onto the side of the road as the occupants jumped out for their photo shoots.

The local traffic police say they plan to ban parking around the area the next time a lucky wedding date arrives, and also banning wedding cars from being decorated with ribbons, and using fire crackers will also be disallowed to prevent the vehicles from travelling at a slow rate and causing traffic tailbacks.

Police in Wokingham succeeded in tracking down a stolen wedding car, saving the day for a local couple who are planning to use the vintage vehicle to transport them on their big day next year.

Groom-to-be, Sean Allem, bought the classic Ford Mustang for £500 last year and has been working on restoring the vehicle in time for his wedding to Stacey Tagg next spring. The Ford Mustang has a special place in Sean’s heart as his father owned several of the classic vehicles as he was growing up, and it’s been his aim to own his own ever since.

However the couple’s dreams for driving to their wedding in their very own Mustang wedding car were seemingly dashed when they discovered the car had been stolen from council owned garages. The locks had been broken, and a low loader had presumably been used to remove the wedding car as it didn’t have an engine at the time.

The police were informed about the theft, and set about searching the area for the stolen wedding car. They struck gold when they visited a local scrap yard and found the Ford Mustang waiting to be turned into scrap metal. Luckily the owners of the yard had kept the vehicle to one side, realising it was a rare car.

Sean and Stacey will be reunited with their wedding car pending police enquiries. Mechanic Sean is anxious to get stick into fully restoring his much loved car in time for the couple’s big day next year.

The police are still searching for the two male strangers who took the Ford Mustang to the scrap yard, anyone with information is urged to get in touch.

Forklift truck wedding car has special meaning for couple in China

forklift-truck-wedding

A bride and groom in China travelled to their wedding in the front basket of a forklift truck earlier this month as the couple wanted to commemorate the vehicle which brought them together.

Forklift truck driver, Kong Qing Yang met his now wife, Shen Likun, when he went to buy a forklift truck from her at the company where she worked as a salesperson. After the initial meeting at the forklift truck company, love blossomed between the pair and they decided to tie the knot.

Not wanting to forget the reason they got together in the first place, the groom left his home in the Hebei Province in North China at 8am onboard a specially decorated forklift truck. Kong collected his bride en route to the church, and the couple travelled through the village of Beiwangduan in their forklift truck, throwing lollies at the locals who lined the street to see them pass by.

The wedding motorcade comprised of eight forklift trucks in total, all of which were travelling at a top speed of just 8mph. Unsurprisingly, the wedding parade took several hours to arrive at ceremony venue, with the bride and groom finally exchanging vows just after 11:30am, some three and a half hours after the groom set off from his house.

Kate Middleton’s Rolls Royce wedding car revealed

Prince-William_Kate-Middleton

The car which will transport Kate Middleton to her wedding at Westminster Abbey on April 29th has been revealed as the Queen’s Rolls Royce Phantom. However the future princess will leave the ceremony with her new husband, Prince William, in a horse drawn carriage to symbolise her ascension from commoner to fully fledged member of the royal family.

It’s been reported that the £1 million Rolls Royce was chosen by Kate Middleton herself for its large windows so as to allow the onlookers a good view of the bride as she arrives at her wedding to Prince William.

The luxury limo was gifted to the Queen to mark her 1977 Silver Jubilee, and is the same car in which Charles and Camilla were travelling in when they were attacked by a mob during protests before Christmas. The Rolls Royce is currently undergoing repair work following the incident, however a spokesperson for the Palace confirmed that the car will be ready in time for the big day.

The newlyweds will travel from Westminster Abbey after the wedding ceremony to the reception at Buckingham Palace in a horse drawn carriage, the same carriage which transported Charles and Diana on their wedding day back in 1981. The 1902 State Landau carriage was originally made for the coronation of Edward VII.

Another four wedding carriages will follow the bridal party on the big day carrying the bridesmaids and pageboys, also The Queen and Prince Phillip, and Kate’s parents and Charles and Camilla.

Darius Campbell marries Natasha Henstridge in secret Californian wedding

Darius-Natash

Pop Stars finalist Darius Campbell has revealed all about his secret wedding to girlfriend of 7-years, Natasha Henstridge, in an interview with a top celebrity glossy magazine.

The newlyweds, who tied the knot in a secret ceremony on Valentine’s Day, admitted their nuptials were “spontaneous” and that the big day was organised in just 7 days.

Although the couple would have loved to have had all of their family with them to celebrate their wedding, with loved ones spread across Canada, America, London and Scotland, it would have proved difficult to get everyone in one place for a wedding. With this in mind Darius, formerly known as Darius Danesh, and his 36-year-old girlfriend Natasha decided to tie the knot in an impromptu ceremony with just the actress’ two sons present.

30-year-old Darius met his now wife after bumping into her on a pedestrian crossing in Los Angeles in 2004. They got engaged a year after meeting, but split briefly last year with the couple citing work commitments as the reason for the break-up. However within 6 months, the pair were back together again.

After7 years together and a 6 year engagement, it was beginning to look as though the singer and actress would never get around to making it official. The Colourblind hit-maker revealed that after he was involved in an almost fatal car accident while on holiday in Spain last summer which left him with several broken vertebrae in his neck which threatened to leave him paralysed, Darius decided it was time to marry his long term partner as the terrifying incident helped him put his life in perspective.

Official photographs from the California wedding and an interview with the bride and groom are featured in his week’s edition of Hello magazine.

Couple get dream wedding car after newspaper appeal

Bristol_400_Car

A couple from the West Midlands have had their wedding transport prayers answered after putting an appeal in the Express and Star newspaper for a specific model of wedding car.

Groom-to-be Robert Baker fell in love with the iconic Bristol sports cars as a 10-year-old and has always dreamed of owning one. However the £50,000 + price tag was beyond his reach, and so the self-employed builder is yet to own his own Bristol, although he still clung onto the dream of travelling in one on his wedding day.

Ahead of his wedding to fiancée Carole Geary this spring, Mr Baker placed an ad in the newspaper to appeal to anyone with a Bristol car to see if they would consider lending their vehicle to the couple for their big day.

The appeal paid off, as Robert Hathaway, the proud owner of a 1968 Bristol 410 model, got in touch and offered his vintage ride to the couple for their wedding day transport.

As well as the classic 1968 Bristol car, Mr Hathaway also owns a 1955 Bristol 404 which he bought 40 years ago.

This story comes at a sad time for the iconic Bristol car manufacturers as it was revealed this month that the company has gone into administration. Bristol has been hand making cars in the UK since 1946 and has a reputation for producing high quality luxury cars.

Despite the unhappy news about the Bristol car makers, the happy couple from Wall Heath are looking forward to arriving at their big day this month in their own chauffeur driven Bristol wedding car.
