Wedding Car Hire Company fails to get Welsh bride to the church on time

A Welsh bride was left in tears on her wedding day after the two vintage chauffeur driven wedding cars she’d booked 8 months in advance, failed to show up on her big day.

Catherine Morgan from Llandeilo in West Wales had arranged for a 1935 Rolls Royce to transport her and her father to a local church on her wedding day, and also a Daimler limo to transport the rest of the bridal party.

The bride made the wedding car hire booking back in January and paid a £100 deposit to secure the cars. Having not heard anything from the company, Dynevor Wedding Cars based in Llanelli, since making her booking the bride’s family contacted to the firm to ensure everything was set for the big day.

Two days prior to the wedding, the car hire company confirmed that everything was fine with the booking. But when the big day arrived, the bride was left stranded with no car to get her to the church.

Luckily a family friend was able to come to the aid of the bridal party, and the wedding was able to go ahead, albeit, very much behind schedule.

As yet, there’s been no response from the wedding car hire company to explain why the bride’s two vehicles failed to show up on the date agreed.

Vintage wedding car ditches the church

A vintage 1928 Packard wedding car failed to make it to the church on time this weekend after the car ended up sideways in a ditch while on its way to collect the bride and groom.

The classic car was part of a procession of two wedding cars on their way to collect a wedding party in Highbridge, Somerset. However the chauffeur got into difficulty after a cyclist swerved in front of the two cars as they were approaching a sharp bend in the road. The first car braked to avoid the bike, but the driver of the second car accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, and so skidded onto the grass verge and into the ditch.

The wedding car sustained front end damage to the exterior bodywork, and the interior was also partially damaged as a result of ditch water leaking into the car after it crashed into the trench off the side of the road.

The elderly chauffeur of the 1928 Packard wedding car sustained minor head injuries as a result of the accident.

Luckily for the wedding party, another classic wedding car attending a nearby wedding was able to cover the job and so the couple made it to the church on time despite the upset.

Limo Broker reveals classic wedding cars are the most popular choice for brides and grooms in 2010

Classic wedding cars in high demand for weddings in 2010 say Limo Broker

Premier limousine hire provider, Limo Broker, have revealed that classic and vintage wedding cars have proved the most popular choice of wedding day transport for brides and grooms tying the knot in 2010.

Limo Broker provides chauffeur driven wedding car hire all over the UK and say that although vintage rides have always been a popular choice for weddings, demand for classic wedding cars this year has been bigger than ever. The luxury transport operator organises thousands of bookings for wedding cars during the peak wedding season of July and August and say that their vintage cars were the first vehicles to book out in almost every region of the country.

The trend for vintage themed weddings may have played a role in the overwhelming demand for these classic rides. Many brides are opting for a wedding which takes its inspiration from a bygone era not only as a style choice, before also because of economic reasons.

Vintage wedding dresses are cheaper than buying new, and hiring a classic car for your ride to the wedding will set you back less than a seat in the latest Rolls Royce Phantom on your wedding day. Given the recent economic downturn, money is tighter than ever so brides and grooms are eager to keep the cost of their wedding as low as possible, without comprising on style or quality.

Check out Limo Broker’s gallery of classic wedding cars for more information of these elegant wedding vehicles. The 1960’s Princess Car in white never fails to draw admiring glances wherever it goes, while the open-top Beauford is perfect for sunny summer weddings, choose your vintage ride of choice by clicking on the following link http://www.limobroker.co.uk/classic-wedding-cars/

Fire fighter bride ditches the wedding car on her big day

Fire fighter couple opt for red fire engine on their big day

A fire fighter bride from Connecticut, US, had a surprise ride to the church on Saturday after the luxury wedding car she had been expecting to collect her, turned out to be a fire engine.

Sonia Lombardi, a volunteer fire fighter, tied the knot with fellow fire fighter James Remotti over the weekend. The groom organised the surprise transport for the bride after getting the go-ahead from Windsor Lock Fire department’s boss Gary Ruggiero.

It is considered an honour for a fire crew member to be driven in a fire engine on their wedding day. The fire station boss was happy to grant the groom’s request describing the crew at the department as being like an “extended family.”

The fire engine ride was kept tightly under wraps until the big day and came as a big surprise to the bride herself.

After the ceremony the newlyweds posed for photographs next to the big red engine. The bride’s father thought the surprise wedding transportation was very apt, considering both the bride and groom are fire-fighters.

Many couples are ditching the traditional wedding limo in favour of something more alternative, although we’re not sure the fire engine wedding car will be a popular choice with everyone, but it certainly suited this couple from Connecticut.

Father of the bride’s cunning plan ensured wedding limo had perfect parking space

Father of the bride took wedding car parking matters into his own hands

A father of the bride was determined his daughter’s wedding day would be nothing short of perfect, and so decided to take matters into his own hands to ensure the bride’s wedding limo was able to collect her from the family home and whisk her away in style.

Street parking is a particular problem in dad, Jonathan Brookes’ hometown of Brighton so he wasn’t taking any risks on his daughter’s wedding day. The family had hired a limousine to take the bride and her father to the ceremony and so as to ensure the stretch limo was able to park directly outside the family home, Mr Brookes came up with a cunning plan.

56-year-old Jonathan made up a harmless solution of flour, water and yellow food colouring and painted double yellow lines outside of his house on the morning of the big day. The trick worked perfectly and the limo was able to pull up directly outside the Brighton home to collect the bride from the front door.

Mr Brookes admitted, “”It was a bit naughty, but our road’s so narrow you can’t double park.” After the bride was whisked away in her wedding car, the DIY “paint” solution washed away and no harm was done. 28-year-old bride Louise was impressed with her father’s ingenuity saying “nothing’s ever too much trouble for my dad.”

Wedding car with a special family connection

A Jaguar Mark ll which had passed through 3 generations of the family was used as the wedding car

A bride-to-be from Australia travelled to the ceremony on the big day in a wedding car which held some very dear memories for the man she was about to marry.

The 1960’s Jaguar, which transported bride Chantel Dielwart on her wedding day, was originally bought by the groom Quinton’s grandfather who lived in South Africa.

Sadly Quinton’s grandfather died in his 40’s and the car was passed down to his son, Quinton’s father, Marteen, who brought the Jaguar Mark ll over to Australia and spent 23 years restoring it. But another blow was about to strike the Dielwart family.  Marteen died 10 months ago, and never saw the car completed.

When it came to finding a wedding car for their big day, there was only ever one option for Chantel and Quinton. After the date was set the couple swung into action to get the Jaguar back to its best for the special occasion. The evening before the wedding day, the Jaguar was finally finished.

With so much history associated with the car, it was the perfect ride for the newlyweds and also marked the first time the Jaguar had been driven on the open road in 22 years.

Bride faced prospect of walking to church as roads impassable for vintage wedding cars

Icy roads meant bride faced prospect of cancelling her vintage wedding car and walking to church

Icy roads meant bride faced prospect of cancelling her vintage wedding car and walking to church

Bride-to-be Alison Welsh from County Durham faced the daunting prospect of walking to the church on her wedding day after the roads around her family home became impassable due to heavy snow fall and ice.

Although 29-year-old Alison was due to tie the knot to fiancé Charlie Collins at a church half a mile away, because the roads nearby had not been gritted, they were in a treacherous condition. No vehicles had been able to get close to the house for days, this also posed another problem as other wedding related deliveries such as florists, and hairdressers would also face difficulties trying to reach the bride.

The bride had booked two exquisite vintage wedding cars for the big day. One of which was a Rolls Royce, and the other, an Austin Princess wedding car. Alison and her father had been due to travel in one, whilst the bridesmaids were scheduled to arrive in the other.

However these carefully constructed plans looked liked being thwarted by the severe weather, with Alison facing the possibility of walking to church.

The bride put out a plea in the local area for a 4×4 vehicle to get her to the church on time. The council also stepped into help after hearing of Alison’s plight and said they’d do all they could to make the roads around her home passable so as to allow the vintage wedding cars access.

Vintage wedding car swapped for 4×4 vehicle as winter bride gets snowed in

Heavy snowfall meant Rochdale bride's vintage wedding car had to be cancelled

They say you should be careful what you wish for, and that’s something bride Louise Boardman will certainly remember to bear in mind. The 27-year-old certainly got more than she bargained for when she wished for a white wedding.

The drama began on Louise’s wedding morning when she awoke to a thick blanket of snow covering her childhood home in Shawclough in Rochdale. The chauffeur driven vintage wedding car she’d booked months in advance had to be cancelled as the roads were covered in snow and there was no way of the vehicle reaching them.

Luckily locals, friends, and family were more than happy to step into the breach and an alternative wedding car was found in the form of a Chrysler 4×4. Louise said “Dad was dreading telling me that the wedding car was cancelled” but the bride-to-be took it all in her stride and made her way to her waiting wedding car wearing her alternative wedding shoes, a pair of cosy ugg boots.

The 70 wedding guests and the groom were left anxiously waiting at the church. The journey to reach the church would normally take 15 minutes, but due to the heavy snow, it took them over an hour. After a quick change of footwear from ugg boots to wedding heels, Louise finally made it down the aisle.

After their snowy wedding the newlyweds were more than happy to escape the cold winter weather and head off on their honeymoon in the sun-soaked Maldives.

Vintage limo leaves its parking space of 50 years to be restored

1950's Daimler Limo to be restored to its former glory after 50 years parked ouside a house

A vintage 1950’s Daimler DE36 Limousine which has been parked in the same spot on a street in Watford for the past 40 to 50 years was finally taken away last week to be restored. However with no tyres and seized axles, the limo had to be hauled out of its parking space and transferred to its new home on the back of a flat-bed trailer.

The limousine is now the owned by classic car enthusiast Stephen Tomkinson after the previous owner died earlier this year. Mr Tomkinson was so taken with the limo that he contacted the executioner of the will to ask about the possibility of buying the vehicle. By a stroke of the luck, Mr Tomkinson was offered the limo for free and only had to pay to have the limousine removed and taken to his premises.

However moving the limo from outside the house where it has sat for almost 50 years was a task in itself. Crowds gathered to watch the delicate operation whereby the limo was extracted from its position next to large van. Local residents were all sad to see the limo leave, and many had tales to tell of the vehicle’s past.

There seems to be a number of legends attached to limo, one being that the last owner stated on the log book of the car is Winston Churchill, and that his first wife was driven to their wedding in the back of the Daimler. Others say the limo as the official royal car in Scotland and was often used to ferry the queen around whilst on visits.

The new owner of the vehicle is hoping to restore it back to its former and glory and give it a new lease of life, possibly as a wedding car.
