A Mercedes limousine, reported to have been used to chauffeur Adolf Hitler, is about to be snapped up by a Russian investor for a seven figure sum.

The midnight blue coloured limo was tracked down by a German classic car dealer, Michael Fröhlich, who discovered the vehicle in northern Germany where it was owned by a collector. Mr Fröhlich has sold on a number of vehicles with connections to people of note. Previously he negotiated the sale of John Lennon’s Mercedes and Charlie Chaplin’s Bentley.

The open top limo is said to have been used to transport Hitler through the crowds of saluting Nazi supporters during the Second World War. However the man who traced the limo said he was in “two minds” about taking on the job, adding that he had lost many members of his family during the war. Fröhlich admitted that the limo “disgusts” him but despite this, experts have estimated that the vehicle is worth between €4 – €10 million.

The limousine’s log book reportedly reveals an entry which states that the vehicle was delivered to “The Führer and Reich Chancellor” in 1935. The dealer said he has also found an old photograph of Hitler onboard a limo with the same number plate as the vehicle. As well as bullet proof glass the Mercedes limo also features armoured plates and would have been a top of the range model at the time it was made.

Car dealer Michael Fröhlich, who has been in the business for 30 years, says finding Hitler’s limo was his “most unusual deal ever, by far.”

A Beatles fan and car enthusiast has become the lucky owner of one of the most impressive pieces of Beatles memorabilia, John Lenon’s white limo.

The businessman from Norfolk, Graham Dacre, fell in love with the Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman limo back in the early 1990’s but at the time, he couldn’t afford the prestigious vehicle. However he has carried a torch for the exquisite limousine ever since and now finally, he can call it his own after tracking it down in Europe almost 20 years on.

The Mercedes limo certainly has a long list of illustrious previous owners. Although it was originally purchased by John Lennon in 1970 from a dealership in Surrey, the vehicle was sold to fellow Beatle, George Harrison 5 years later when Lennon moved across the pond to the U.S with his wife at the time, Yoko Ono.

There is speculation that a third member of the band, Ringo Starr, also owned the limo at one time too. However it then found its way over to America when it was bought by Mary Wilson of The Supreme’s fame. She used the limo to transport the band during their U.S tour in 1979.

The seven seater limo eventually made it back to the U.K. It was publically auctioned in 1989 in Christies and it was around this time that its present owner clapped eyes on it for the first time.

After Mr Dacre sold his business he found himself with enough capital to buy the limo he’d fallen in love with all those years ago. He set upon his mission to locate the limo, which he eventually found in Germany, and convinced the owner to sell it to him.

Now the love-struck limo owner couldn’t be happier with his prized possession. Plus he wishes to share the piece of living history with anyone who’s interested and is looking into having the limousine put on display.
