Richard Hammond crashes supercar

Richard-Hammond

TopGearHammondTop Gear presenter Richard Hammond saw his £110,000 supercar crushed in a 4 car pileup on Saturday. Hammond, also known as The Hamster was reported to have been on his way back from a flying lesson when the incident occurred at about lunchtime on Saturday. The Morgan Aeromax was caught at the back of the crash causing considerable damage to the front of the vehicle.

No one was hurt in the accident which happened at a roundabout near Gloucester on the A40. A spokesperson for the BBC confirmed Hammond had been involved in a “minor collision” over the weekend but was unharmed.

Far from being upset by the pile-up, the other drivers involved were said to have indulged in some “good-humoured banter” once they realised they’d bumped bumpers with a famous face. The other cars involved were a BMW, Nissan and a Volvo; a little less glamorous than Richard’s ride.

Hammond hit the front pages back in 2006 when he crashed a jet car at 288mph, the collision left him fighting for his life. The daredevil presenter made a full recovery and obviously hasn’t lost his love for fast cars. Fortunately his latest scrape was a lot less dramatic.

richard_hammondThe exclusive supercar is said to be one of Hammond’s favourites and according to one onlooker, the front of the luxurious vehicle was “in a pretty bad way.” No doubt the plucky presenter has a pretty flash courtesy car lined up so he’ll be back behind the wheel in no time.
