Rolls Royce limo once owned by Princess Margaret to go under the hammer

rolls-royce-princess-margaret

A Rolls Royce limousine once owned by Princess Margaret and also Burt Reynolds is due to go under the hammer at a forthcoming Bonhams car auction.

The vintage Rolls Royce limo was made to order for the Queen’s sister in 1975, but was later taken to the US when it was purchased by Donald Kerr who then sold the vehicle to the American actor, Burt Reynolds who owned the car for several year, but is thought to have never used it on the open road. In 1988 the limo was then bought by a British stock broker who brought the vehicle back to the UK.

The 1975 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow will go under the hammer at the Bonhams auction on June 18th at Rockingham Castle in Leicestershire and is expected to fetch between £20,000 –£22,000. The limo now has 75,000 miles on the clock and comes with a 100 pages worth of services documents and other correspondence letters connected to the car.

The limo was made to Princess Margaret’s personal requirements with extra soft comfortable seats, as requested by the princess, and also a raised rear floor level to allow the Queen’s sister to enter and exit the luxury limo gracefully. The Rolls Royce features distinctive Cardinal Red paintwork with a contrast gold coachline on the exterior.

A stunning Rolls Royce Silver Seraph whose last previous owner was Sir Bobby Robson, is back on the market after his widow took the decision to sell the pristine vehicle.

The classic Rolls Royce is currently on display at a car showroom in Peterlee, county Durham, at the same dealership where Sir Bobby purchased it from. Car dealer Paul Cummings sourced the car for the former England and Newcastle United boss two and a half years ago after Sir Bobby admitted that he had always wanted to own a Rolls Royce.

The football legend’s wife, Lady Elsie, is selling the car after Sir Bobby passed away last July aged 76. The Rolls Royce had been described as his pride and joy.

Paul Cummings, who is selling the vehicle on behalf of Lady Elsie, was a personal friend of Sir Bobby’s and even attended his memorial service last year. The Rolls Royce can be seen at the car show room on Peterlee industrial estate.

The Rolls Royce Silver Seraph is a 1998 model and has just 26,247 miles on the clock. Its original selling price was £160,000 however its current price has not been made public, but can be disclosed upon application. Sir Bobby Robson’s personalised number plates will not be included in the sale.

Rolls Royce beats credit crunch with budget limousine

Rolls Royce Ghost

Rolls Royce is a name synonymous with luxury and decadence, however it seems even the world’s most exclusive car manufacturer isn’t immune to the credit crunch. Rolls Royce has just unveiled its latest addition to the prestigious dynasty, the Ghost. The new limo’s unique selling point has to be its price, rumoured to be around the $245,000 mark (£148,000) which by Rolls Royce standards, is a bargain.

The Ghost will join the company’s continental fleet of vehicles and is available from autumn 2009. The exact price won’t be revealed until the Frankfurt Motor Show however it will be considerably lower than Rolls Royce’s most popular limo, the Phantom which sells for $380,000 (£229,600). The Rolls Royce Phantom has been an extremely successful car for the brand, and is a very popular choice for wedding car hire the world over.

Although plans for a more affordable Rolls Royce were in the pipeline long before the global economic downturn, the timing of the Ghost couldn’t be better. Rolls Royce CEO agrees it is an “ideal” time to be launching a budget limo after the company saw a 34% drop in sales this year in comparison to 2008. The ethos of the new limo is also timely as the CEO went on to say “It’s less ostentatious, so owners can give the impression that they’re downsizing”

Despite being nick-named the Baby Rolls, the Ghost is still a mighty vehicle. It stretches over 5 metres in length and has a 6.6 litre engine and boasts upward of 500bhp; and with a price tag estimated to be £80,000 lower than the Rolls Royce Phantom, this new limo is likely to fly out of the showroom.

New Michael Jackson Exhibition opens at Madame Tussauds

jackowaxwork

jackowaxworkA brand new waxwork of the late King of Pop was unveiled last week at Madame Tussauds. The figure depicts the late legend in a distinctive pose featured on the posters for his comeback “This Is It” tour scheduled for the O2 Arena this summer. Following Jackson’s untimely demise on June 24th after suffering a cardiac arrest, it was decided the new sculpture should be revealed as planned to honour the iconic entertainer.

Jacko has more waxwork figures made in his image than any other personality, bar the Queen who has 22 models. The latest addition is ominously the 13th model of Jackson and is the centrepiece of a brand new exhibition at the London attraction. The new unveiling was designed to coincide with the opening of Michael Jackson’s tour at the O2 Arena, instead it serves as a poignant tribute to the much loved pop star.

It took a team of 20 individuals, lead by renowned sculptor Stephen Mansfield, to create the new depiction of Jackson. As the most famous pop star on the planet selling £750 million records worldwide, tourists from across the world will be drawn to exhibition at Madame Tussauds to see the lifelike sculptors and celebrate the staggering achievements of this legendary performer.

Michael Jackson’s Stretched Rolls Royce Silver Seraph Limo may be just about priceless

Michael Jacksons Rolls Royce Limousine
Michael-Jacksons-rolls-royce-limo1-300x158A one of a kind Rolls Royce Limousine, designed by Michael Jackson himself, is now described by experts as “priceless” following his sudden death last week. The unique vehicle was part of the original Jackson auction catalog that was set to be sold in April.
But now it seems the price of Michael Jackson’s stretched Rolls Royce Silver Seraph is impossible to estimate. The cost of all Jackson memorabilia has shot through the roof according to the Associated Press, and what’s more precious than a Limo with an interior that was designed by the King of Pop himself?
The car was set to be auctioned in April as part of Julien’s Auctions at the Beverley Hills Hilton, but a dispute halted the auction and the items, including the limo, were never sold.
The singer’s death triggered a surge in the Jackson collectibles market. By as early as Friday morning, hastily designed T-shirts emblazoned with the words “R.I.P.” and “June 25, 2009″ alongside his image were available online. On Friday afternoon, an Internet search for Jackson items turned up more than 24,000 offerings; there was a rush on all auction sites with buyers particularly drawn to the fixed-price “buy-it-now” items.
In addition to surging volume, EBay reported the average selling price for Jackson items jumped 31 percent on Thursday from daily averages the previous week. For example, a fedora hat signed by the man himself was being offered at $9,795.
So if Jackson’s hat is valued at almost $10,000 what do you suppose his Rolls Royce Silver Seraph is worth?
The original auction catalog value of the limo was between $140,000 – $160,000, but now how it’s anyone’s guess.
