The Pussycat Dolls are no-more

The Pussycat Dolls have disbanded says group member

US chart-topping girl group the Pussycat Dolls are no-more according to band member Kimberly Wyatt. The blonde singer told a gossip website this week that as far as she is concerned, the group is “fully disbanded.”

As part of the Pussycat Dolls, fronted by lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, the girls enjoyed a successful career both in the States and in the UK achieving smash hits with tracks like Don’t Cha and Jai Ho.

However the future of the Pussycat Dolls has been hanging the balance for the last few months as they girls all decided to take time out of the band to forge ahead with their own individual solo projects.

It has been reported that 3 out of the 5 girl band members, Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta and Ashley Roberts have made the decision to leave the band, leaving just lead singer Nicole Scherzinger and Melody Thornton left to create a new line-up. If the Dolls do return, it will feature some new faces.

Kimberley Wyatt, who announced she was quitting the group three months ago, has just released her first solo single Candy.

The mastermind behind the band is choreographer Robin Antin and she has been quoted as saying, “The brand is about female empowerment. Inside every woman is a pussycat doll waiting to get out.” Before adding, “There are millions of women out there who want to know what it feels like. I want to bring in new faces.”

The founder of chart topping girl band The Pussycat Dolls has spoken out to put the record straight on rumours that the group are on the brink of splitting. Robin Antim said there “is no truth” in the media reports that the girls are about to disband.

There had been whispers this week that all was not well between lead singer Nicole Scherzinger and the rest of the girls. Some reports suggested that the other band members had frozen out their lead singer and were giving her the silent treatment.

The other group members, Melody Thornton, Jessica Sutta, Ashley Roberts, and Kimberly Wyatt were said to be unhappy with the fact that Nicole is a far more significant figure in the band with a bigger profile.

However Robin Antim who oversees the band has vehemently denied this saying, “Nicole and the girls have ALWAYS been close.” Before adding, “The Pussycat Dolls are very much ALIVE and there is NO truth to the silent treatment statements.”

Nicole, who is currently dating Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, is said to be working on a solo project. However her debut album made back in 2007 entitled, My Name Is Nicole, was never released and instead many of the tracks ended up on the Pussycat Doll’s album. The last album from the Pussycat Dolls was released in September 2008.
