Thieves steal the wheels off pink hummer limo

pink-limousine-hire

Thieves in Tulsa, USA, burgled a limo hire depot with a very specific target in mind. The owner of the limousine hire company received a phone call from an employee asking if he was working on the luxury pink hummer limousine as the worker had arrived at the depot to find the vehicle propped up on jacks, with all of its tyres missing.

It is thought the thieves targeted the limo hire garage with the main aim of stealing the custom made rims and tyres thought to be worth in the region of $2,000. The robbers also seized the opportunity to make off with a credit card they found at the depot, which the police have been able to trace as the thieves have used the stolen card at various local stores.

The theft of the custom made rims and tyres caused a major headache for the limo hire company as they had to disappoint a number of customers and cancel their bookings as the limo was off the road for some time while they found and fitted temporary tyres.

CCTV footage taken from the limo hire yard is being analysed by police. The thieves managed to obtain entry to the yard as they knew the key code, however the owner of the Kristal Limo says he doesn’t believe the robbery was an inside job, or that a former employee is responsible as he doesn’t recognise the two men captured on the CCTV footage.

The police are continuing their investigation and are trying to track down the two men who made off with the limo tyres and rims in a black pickup. The limo hire company owner is keeping a close eye on eBay to see if the stolen items appear on there.

Pink limo ride to the kiddies pamper parlour offered by Essex beauty salon

Pink Limo

A new beauty parlour offering pampering, beauty and hair styling services for the under 13s has just been launched in Brentwood, Essex.

The Trendy Monkeyz salon offers a whole host of treatments aimed at youngsters including fruit smoothie facials, girls pedicures and manicures and also hair styling. The salon has also incorporated a Princess Party Package as part of their services which offers girly girls the chance to host a birthday party at the salon and enjoy the full VIP service.

As part of the party package, the girls can also choose to add on extras to their day, including the use of a chauffeur driven limousine which will collect the party from one destination, and deliver them to the salon in the lap of luxury.

Although this may sound like many a young girls’ dream, the salon has come under fire from some children’s rights campaigners who believe the adult like services offered will encourage the girls to grow up too quickly and also prompts girls to start thinking and worrying about their appearances of too young of an age.

The salon has defended its decision to offer pamper and beauty treatments for under 13s in the press saying the salon will help young girls “exude confidence” and also enjoy the experience of having treatments with all of their friends.

There certainly seems to be a call for this kind of service in Brentwood, which also happens to be the setting for the popular glamorised reality TV show The Only Way is Essex, as the salon has already taken 15 bookings for its princess pamper parties despite having only opened their doors last weekend.

School prom dress sales expected to bring £750k worth of business to UK retailer

blue-prom-dresses

A school prom dress retailer in Staffordshire is bracing itself for a busy couple of months ahead of the peak prom season in the UK.

Fashion Factory near Cannock in Staffordshire are forecasting sales of prom dresses of £750,000 over the coming weeks as school leavers flock to their shop to search for their perfect prom frock.

The prom season in Britain runs from March right through until July, so the next few months are expected to be hectic for prom dress retailers, and also associated suppliers such as limo hire companies, hairdressers and beauticians.

The phenomenon of school proms originated from American schools, but has now made its way over to the UK where almost every single secondary school in the country now holds an annual prom, and in some cases, primary schools have also starting hosting end of year proms.

Prom dress retailers, Fashion Factory, have witnessed the meteoric rise of the school prom in the UK first hand. The shop described having just one rail of prom dresses for sale several years ago, but fast forward to the present day and the Staffordshire retailer has over 1,000 prom dresses in stock, with 200 girls visiting every Saturday and a dedicated team working on prom gowns and accessories. With prom dresses selling from anything from £50 to £500, not surprisingly prom wear is big business.

If you’re still looking for the perfect ride to your school prom in the UK, get in touch with Limo Broker today for the widest range of chauffeur driven limousines and party buses, all of which are available to hire at ultra low rates.

Check prom limos are licensed warn councils

prom-1

Check your school prom is properly licensed, that’s the warning being issued to school head teachers and parents ahead of the upcoming prom season.

Last year spot checks on limousines and chauffeurs were carried out up and down the country, with a number of unlicensed operators being uncovered. As well as uncovering unlicensed drivers and limos, the on the spot checks also found that some companies were providing onboard alcohol to under 18’s.

Since October 2009, all limos carrying over 8 passengers must carry a special Certificate of Initial Fitness (COIF) licence. So if you’re planning to hire a large hummer vehicle or party buss for example, you’d be well advised to check with your limo hire company to clarify whether or not your prom vehicle carries a COIF licence.

As well as special licenses for limos carrying over 8 passengers, in 2006 it became a legal requirement for all limos used for public hire to carry a licence.

Local councils also issue licences for limo chauffeurs to ensure all drivers have the correct licence to driver a limousine and that they are physically fit. In addition to this, the council will also screen all drivers using the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous convictions.

The advice being given to anyone planning to hire a limo for the prom season is to book with a reputable company, and to ask for proof that both the limo and the chauffeur are properly licensed.

Limo Broker featured in school prom article in The Independent

Limo Broker featured in an article in The Independent on proms for the under 12's

Just weeks after leading UK limousine hire company Limo Broker were approached by The Sunday Times to contribute to an article on school proms, another top UK newspaper, The Independent, has turned to Limo Broker for their take on the phenomenon that is the British School Prom.

The article published in The Independent this week, please see the following link, http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/education-news/endofterm-discos-are-so-last-year-2026754.html concentrates on the rise in popularity of primary school proms. The tradition of the American school prom is to celebrate the end of school life as 16-year-old pupils go out into the world, to either University or work.

However the younger kids also want a slice of the action, and now proms for the under 12’s are being organised for pupils to wave goodbye to their primary school years in style.

While some parents and teachers welcome the new craze for proms for primary school children, others are despairing saying the grown-up events are robbing youngsters of their childhood. Love them or loathe them, one thing’s for certain, they’re on the increase.

Limo Broker is asked in The Independent article to recount its experiences of dealing with primary school proms. Martin Latner, from Limo Broker, explains where the biggest rise in limo hire for under 12’s proms has been seen saying: “Particularly in the Midlands and in London we’ve seen a massive boost,” Latner goes on to say, “I remember when I got my first call from an 11-year-old. I was definitely surprised. We’re expecting it to be twice as bad next year.”

With the popularity of the school prom gaining momentum year on year, this can only spell good news for the limousine hire industry. Some hire companies are even predicting that proms will take over from weddings as the most popular occasion for limo hire in the UK within the next two-years.

More limo hire operators face spot checks at school prom dates

Road side checks on limos leaving school proms in Stafford helping to clamp down on Illegal operators

Another two limo hire companies are facing investigation by licensing officials after failing to provide adequate documentation following a spot check on limousines leaving a school prom in Stafford earlier this month.

A series of roadside checks were carried out on chauffeur driven limousines after they had dropped off their passengers at a year 11 school prom which was being held at The Moat House Hotel in Acton Trussell. A number of similar sting operations have been carried out up and down the country during the peak prom season.

One of the licensing officers involved in the South Staffordshire roadside checks explained that transport officials are targeting limousines attending prom events as it allows “a unique opportunity to vet a large number of limo companies in one place in a relatively short space of time.”

The licensing officials are checking that each of the limousines and chauffeurs has the correct licence documents and also appropriate insurance as they aim to clamp down on the number of illegal limo operators working in the UK.

Two limos were singled out for further investigation after failing to provide adequate licensing or insurance documentation. Both companies are now required to deliver the requested paperwork to the authorities or face prosecution.

The Staffordshire wide crackdown on illegal limo operators during the school prom season has been a success, according to one of the officers leading the operation, who says knowledge that the roadside checks were taking place has been a strong deterrent in keeping rouge limo providers off the road.
