A car-jacker who stole a hummer limousine at gunpoint in California, US over the weekend attempted to make an unusual getaway after being pursued by police, making a run from the limo completely naked.

The theft of the hummer H2 limo was reported by the chauffeur of the car who told police the robber had taken the hummer from him at gunpoint at 8pm in Irvine, California this weekend. A police chase ensued, with the authorities pursuing the stolen limo in cars and also with the help of a police helicopter.

According to the driver of the hummer, the thief was fully clothed when he stole the vehicle, however he must have removed his clothes during the police chase as by the time he slowed down and bailed out of the hummer attempting to flee on foot, the robber wasn’t wearing a single item of clothing.

The moment the as-yet-unidentified thief rolled out of the limo and made away from the police on foot naked was captured by the police cameras from the helicopter hovering above. The fact the man was naked probably didn’t do him any favours as a German Shepherd police dog tackled the thief to the floor, bringing him down and holding onto him with its jaws until two police officers arrived and handcuffed the man.

The naked limo thief was taken into custody, although the police say it’s still not known why the robber chose to strip off his clothes while making his getaway in the hummer limousine.

Thieves in Tulsa, USA, burgled a limo hire depot with a very specific target in mind. The owner of the limousine hire company received a phone call from an employee asking if he was working on the luxury pink hummer limousine as the worker had arrived at the depot to find the vehicle propped up on jacks, with all of its tyres missing.

It is thought the thieves targeted the limo hire garage with the main aim of stealing the custom made rims and tyres thought to be worth in the region of $2,000. The robbers also seized the opportunity to make off with a credit card they found at the depot, which the police have been able to trace as the thieves have used the stolen card at various local stores.

The theft of the custom made rims and tyres caused a major headache for the limo hire company as they had to disappoint a number of customers and cancel their bookings as the limo was off the road for some time while they found and fitted temporary tyres.

CCTV footage taken from the limo hire yard is being analysed by police. The thieves managed to obtain entry to the yard as they knew the key code, however the owner of the Kristal Limo says he doesn’t believe the robbery was an inside job, or that a former employee is responsible as he doesn’t recognise the two men captured on the CCTV footage.

The police are continuing their investigation and are trying to track down the two men who made off with the limo tyres and rims in a black pickup. The limo hire company owner is keeping a close eye on eBay to see if the stolen items appear on there.

Katie was snapped wearing a sheer cream babydoll dress accompanying her new beau and birthday boy Leandro who looked smart in a black suit. The couple travelled in the back of a stretch pink hummer limo with matching pink seats especially to celebrate the occasion.

The hummer just got green

green-hummer

Introducing the world’s first green hummer. Although the words eco-friendly and hummer seem like a contradiction in terms, the perception of the hummer as a gas guzzling monster is about to be turned on its head with the launch of the latest miniature 4×4 which is run entirely on electric.

The latest model to be introduced by Hummer, the MEV Hummer HX is a fraction of the size and cost of its big brother the hummer limo. Costing £10,000 new, the MEV hummer is electric powered and boasts a range of 100 miles. As the new green car has no carbon footprint whatsoever, the vehicle is except from congestion charges.

Measuring just 3m in length and 1.5m in width, the MEV Hummer HX is minuscule in comparison with the traditional hummer. While the largest hummers in the UK have room onboard for up to 18 passengers, the new eco friendly hummer can only accommodate 1 driver and one passenger.

Last year General Motors ceased manufacturing the iconic hummer limo as the giant automobile brand had started to cause controversy due to the high levels of carbon emissions emitted and also dismal fuel consumption rates, as low as 10 miles per gallon. The hummer had come to be associated with excess and extravagance and there was little tolerance for this type of vehicle.

Following its reinvention as a green automobile, hummer’s star could be set to rise again.

Student arrested after claims he ran over ducklings in a hummer

hummer-H3

A 19-year-old student from Michigan has been arrested amid claims he ran over a duck and four ducklings in a McDonalds car park, killing the animals.

Dillon Pearce attended the drive through restaurant in his hummer vehicle with a group of friends. One McDonalds employee claims that one of the group attempted to pick up a duckling, and the fast food worker had to tell them to stop.

It’s then alleged that the group moved to another car park to eat their fast food, before driving back into the McDonalds car park and running over the ducklings.

The mother duck and approximately eight ducklings were said to be nesting under a bush in the fast food restaurant’s car park.

However the lawyer acting in defence of the 19-year-old says his client did not intend to mow down the ducklings in his hummer, and was in fact trying to save them from other motorists. According to his defence lawyer, Dillon Pearce was unaware he had crushed the ducklings with his hummer, and the first he knew about the incident was when the police approached him at a nearby gas station.

The Pearce’s lawyer denies that the incident was a deliberate act and states that the college student does in fact, care about animals.

Glee popularises the school prom in the UK

prom-1

It has been claimed this week that hit TV shows such Glee are responsible for popularising the growing trend for school proms, with one hotel chain in the UK reporting a 500% increase in bookings for school proms over the last year alone.

The trend for glitzy end of year school proms events has been growing steadily over the course of the last few years, however with TV programmes such as the US show Glee, and High School the Musical promoting the glamorous world of school proms on TV screens, youngsters in the UK are more determined than ever to have big prom experience.

A survey by the hotel chain, Holiday inn, found that on average each teen attending a school prom will spend £244, while 1 in 10 prom goers will spend £500 and 2% will spend over £1,500.

As well as the all-important prom dress, accessories, and suit hire, parents are also having to fork out for luxury transport to the event, often in the form of a chauffeur driven limo, or in some cases a helicopter. Limo Hire companies are reporting record bookings for prom dates throughout the UK, with some of the most popular prom dates booking out 6 months in advance.

Another expense for prom-goers is the cost of make-up artists and hairdressers with many groups of girls choosing to have costly pamper parties before heading out for their school prom.

Following the results of their recent survey, Holiday Inn has created a prom package to help ease the financial burden for parents of prom kids. For just £18 a head, Holiday Inn are offering a stylish prom party on a budget with venue hire at any of their hotels across the country, a glass of bubbly on arrival, DJ entertainment and also a finger buffet.
