bike limo does charity turn
A fundraising duo from Preston underwent an unusual form of training last week in a bid to get fit and raise funds to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the charity Scope. Maggie Dainty and Dave Lawrenson invited 6 of their friends along for the ride on the limo, however this limo runs on pedal power not petrol, so the 8 “passengers” didn’t have quite the ride they might have expected.
The 24 foot long, 8 seater limo bike was generously donated to the group by Lancashire Limo Hire. They did a circuit of Garstang town, in Preston, Lancashire as part of the expedition. They certainly attracted plenty of attention as they peddled around the area on their unique form of transportation.
In a previous article on Limo Broker News we detailed how the limo bike was up for sale. The charity bike ride will have hopefully gone some way to boosting the profile of the unusual limo, and a potential buyer may have spotted it whilst it did its lap around Garstang.
The sponsored ride was held in aid of raising awareness of the pair’s forthcoming trek up Mount Kilimanjaro and also to collect some much needed cash in order to get the project off the ground. Dave Lawrenson said “We couldn’t have asked for a better day, the weather was brilliant. We had a laugh, despite a few glitches. We want to say thank you to those who donated.” The group managed to collect £50 during their limo bike ride.
To further boost their charity money an auction will be held at Pickerings Hotel on September 23rd with lots up for grabs including a helicopter ride and a meet and greet with comedian Freddie Starr.
