Beyonce swept the board at last night’s Grammy Awards

Beyonce accepting one of her 6 Grammy awards at last night's ceremony

Beyonce cleared up at last night’s 52nd annual Grammy Awards ceremony picking up a total of 6 gongs.

The staggering clutch of awards made the former Destiny’s Child singer the only female artist to pick up so many awards in one night at the Grammy’s ever. Prior to this, the most awards Beyonce had picked up in a single night was 5 back in 2005. She now has a massive 16 Grammys to her name in total.

The star studded event was held at The Staples Centre in Los Angeles and was attended by an array of celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Pink, Heidi Klum, and Katy Perry amongst others.

Picking up one of her 6 awards, Beyonce referred to her husband Jay-Z, something she rarely does as both artists are notoriously secretive about their relationship. During her acceptance speech the 28-year-old said, “I’d like to thank my family, including my husband. I love you.”

The Crazy in Love singer picked up the award for Best Song of the Year and Best R&B Song for the track Single Ladies (put a ring on it) she also picked up the trophy for Best Contemporary Album, Best Female Pop, and Best Vocal Performance.

The other big winners of the night included 20-year-old Taylor Swift who became the youngest artist ever to win the coveted Best Album Award. The country singer picked up a further three awards bring her tally of the night up to 4. Jay-Z, The Black Eyed Peas and Kings Of Leon all picked up three trophies each, and Eminem and Lady Gaga both picked up two each.

There was a poignant moment during the ceremony when Michael Jackson’s children, Prince Michael and Paris, collected a lifetime achievement award on behalf of their father.

JLS pick up 2 MOBO's

This time last year JLS were just another bunch of hopefuls battling it out on our screens as part of the X-Factor talent search, now they’re winning up awards for their music. The boy band picked up not one, but now less than two awards at last night’s MOBO (Music of Black Origin) ceremony in Glasgow.

The late King of Pop, Michael Jackson was also honoured with a posthumous award. His siblings, La Toya and Jermaine collected the trophy whilst Jermaine went on to perform Michael’s favourite song, Smile, by Charlie Chaplin for the brother he describe as being “everything to me. He was a wonderful artist and a wonderful human being.” Jermaine dedicated his performance to Michael saying he felt it was his duty to “continue his legacy” through singing.

New kids on the block JLS were one of the big winners of the night. They collected the award for best song for their smash hit, number one selling track, Beat Again. JLS also beat of fierce competition from the eventual X-Factor winner, Alexandra Burke, to pick up the coveted Best Newcomer gong.

A shock loser of the night was Dizzee Rascal who despite riding high in the charts of late, failed to win a single gong although he was nominated in 3 categories.

Reality show success stories were everywhere at the glittering event last night. As well as JLS and Alexandra Burke, Britain’s Got Talent singer, Shaheen Jafargholi, performed a Jackson 5 song, I’ll be there. The show’s winners, dance troupe Diversity also took to the stage to wow the crowds.

Rolls Royce limos for Jackson's funeral

Last week Michael Jackson’s body was finally laid to rest in a private ceremony at Glendale’s Forest Lawn Memorial Park just outside of Los Angeles. The singer’s family were driven to the sombre event in a fleet of chauffeur driven Rolls Royce Phantom limos.

The King of Pop’s excellent reputation ensured his family benefitted from having the stretch limos hired at a heavily discounted rate showing that his good name and generous nature is still remembered. His children, Prince Michael aged 12, Paris aged 11 and Blanket aged 7 travelled in the blacked out Rolls Royce limos along with Michael’s parents and his Jackson siblings.

Over 200 mourners attended the private ceremony and it took a 31-car motorcade to transport the whole group which included the actress and close friend of Jackson, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, his ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley, and former child star Macaulay Culkin. Notable absentees were the singer and confidante of Jackson, Diana Ross and his other ex-wife and mother of two of his children, Debbie Rowe.

It was reported that the Jackson brothers acted as pallbearers and Gladys Knight sang a version of The Lord’s Prayer during the ceremony. Michael’s three children are also believed to have each written a note for their father which they lay next to his coffin. The Baptist Minister Rev Al Sharpton, who has been a great source of comfort to the family during this sad time, conducted the funeral ceremony.

88,000 expected at U2 Concert in Wembley

U2 360 Tour

U2 360 Tour

U2 gig organisors have claimed, around 88,000 fans are expected at Wembley Stadium for Irish group’s concert on Friday – 5,000 more than the 83,000 who saw Rod Stewart perform there in 1995.

The tour which is sponsored by BlackBerry, opened at the Nou Camp Stadium in Barcelona on 30th June.

The exciting U2 concert is believed to be its biggest previous crowd for a musical event in Wembley.

U2’s radical “claw” stage has enabled tour organisers Live Nation to increase the capacity for the sold-out show.

Tickets are still available for U2’s Saturday show, which will see them supported by Glasgow-based rockers Glasvegas.

Elbow, will support U2 later who won the Mercury Prize last year with their fourth studio album The Seldom Seen Kid.

Michael Jackson still holds the record for Wembley concerts, the late singer who died on June 24th having notched up 15 appearances at the legendary venue.

The Rolling Stones come next with 12 concerts, followed by Madonna with nine.

However, U2 will exceed the American singer’s tally when they play their 10th night at the stadium on Saturday.

Aussie singer Peter Andre has admitted that he regrets vowing to stay celibate until his divorce from Katie Price is confirmed.

Andre was finding it a struggle staying faithful and wishes he never made the promise of not to have sex with anyone else as long as he was still married to estranged wife Jordan (Katie Price).

Talking about his sex life after splitting from the glamour Jordan, Pete said: “I haven’t done a thing.”

“I made this celibacy vow, kicking myself a bit for it now. But I’ve said what I’m going to do and I’m going to do it.”

Meanwhile, mum-of-three Katie has made no secret of her steamy new relationship with cage fighter Alex Reid, 34 who were being filmed by a Living TV documentary crew as they kissed and cuddled in the park in Brighton in broad daylight with Harvey, seven, four-year-old Junior and Princess Powerpuff, two.

Peter Andre reveals he might have taken Katie back

Peter Andre opened his heart in a magazine interview this week, revealing he might have taken his glamour model wife back, had it not been for her raunchy antics. Since their high profile split in May Katie Price, aka Jordan, has consistently hit the headlines for her wild behaviour, much to the dismay of her estranged husband.

Speaking to New magazine, where Peter also writes a weekly column, the Aussie singer said he considered giving his marriage a second chance for the sake of the couple’s three children. However Katie’s behaviour has convinced him he made the right decision in leaving her saying “it had to be done.”

Immediately following the split Katie jetted off to Ibiza where she partied with a bevy of male models. She then hooked up with cage fighter Alex Reid and was spotted on wild nights out with the muscular hunk. After confirming him as her new boyfriend the pair enjoyed a sun soaked holiday where 31-year-old Katie was snapped cavorting topless with the martial arts expert. On Sunday night she even went as far as being photographed wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger.

36-year old Peter is riding high at the moment as his debut single “Behind Closed Doors” from his new album is expected to hit the number one spot. He’s also in talks with the Jackson family to organise a undisclosed tribute to the late Michael Jackson. Andre’s work is keeping him busy and helping him to re-build his life post Jordan. He revealed he’s now “turned the corner” and is feeling more positive. His main regret is that “things could have been different” if Katie had curbed her erratic behaviour.

Film of Jackson’s final rehearsals to be made

JackotourAfter a multimillion dollar deal was stuck between AEG Live and Columbia Pictures, it is extremely likely a Michael Jackson film documenting his final rehearsals is imminent. Court documents filed in Los Angeles revealed that the film studio paid $60 million (£35 million) for the rights to the footage. However no movie can be made until Columbia Pictures receives the approval of a judge, the hearing of which is due to take place today.

Almost 100 hours of footage was taken of Jackson as he prepared for his final This Is It Tour, scheduled for London’s O2 Arena this summer. Short clips have already be aired on TV and show a healthy looking Jackson singing his hit song They Don’t Really Care About Us and performing an energetic dance routine. This particular piece of footage was taken only days before his untimely death on June 24th.

There are stringent conditions attached to any proposed film of Jackson. Firstly, the movie cannot paint Jackson in an unfavourable light, it must comply with PG guidelines and run no longer than 150 minutes. Those set to profit from the film include AEG Live and the Jackson estate, the latter of which will receive 90% of the profits, with the remainder being shared out between the promoters.

It appears there’ll be no delay in getting the movie released as Jackson representatives are scheduled to view a screening of the final product no later than October 2nd, which indicates a possible Christmas release date.

Britain’s Got Talent’s Shaheen to support Leona on Tour?

Leona-Lewis

Leona Lewis

Rumours are rife that Simon Cowell’s latest prodigy Shaheen Jafargholi is to support Leona Lewis when she embarks on her world tour next year. The 14-date tour is believed to begin in the U.K in mid 2010 before moving on to a range of countries across the world. Leona’s smash hit “Bleeding Love” hit the number one spot in over 30 different countries winning her an army of new fans across the globe.

The common link between Shaheen and Leona is Simon Cowell. He championed Leona on the third series of X Factor in 2006, which she went on to win, and plotted her steady rise to global superstardom.

Despite not winning the Britain’s Got Talent series this year, Cowell has high hopes for the youngster from Swansea. He shot to fame earlier this year when he performed the Michael Jackson hit “Who’s Loving You?” on the hit ITV1 talent show. Shaheen was able to repeat this performance on the world stage as he was invited to perform at Michael Jackson’s memorial concert.

Very few details have been released regarding Leona’s 2010 tour except there is expected to be a Garden of Eden theme and Leon’s record company have been reported as saying “money is no object.” Fans of the Hackney singer can look forward to a blistering tour then, possibly with the added bonus of miniature singing sensation Shaheen.

If you’re hoping to catch Leona when she hits your town, ensure you make the most of the occasion and arrive in a chauffeur driven limo. The figure depicts the late legend in a distinctive pose featured on the posters for his comeback “This Is It” tour scheduled for the O2 Arena this summer. Following Jackson’s untimely demise on June 24th after suffering a cardiac arrest, it was decided the new sculpture should be revealed as planned to honour the iconic entertainer.

Jacko has more waxwork figures made in his image than any other personality, bar the Queen who has 22 models. The latest addition is ominously the 13th model of Jackson and is the centrepiece of a brand new exhibition at the London attraction. The new unveiling was designed to coincide with the opening of Michael Jackson’s tour at the O2 Arena, instead it serves as a poignant tribute to the much loved pop star.

It took a team of 20 individuals, lead by renowned sculptor Stephen Mansfield, to create the new depiction of Jackson. As the most famous pop star on the planet selling £750 million records worldwide, tourists from across the world will be drawn to exhibition at Madame Tussauds to see the lifelike sculptors and celebrate the staggering achievements of this legendary performer.

Michael Jackson’s Stretched Rolls Royce Silver Seraph Limo may be just about priceless

Michael-Jacksons-rolls-royce-limo1-300x158A one of a kind Rolls Royce Limousine, designed by Michael Jackson himself, is now described by experts as “priceless” following his sudden death last week. The unique vehicle was part of the original Jackson auction catalog that was set to be sold in April.
But now it seems the price of Michael Jackson’s stretched Rolls Royce Silver Seraph is impossible to estimate. The cost of all Jackson memorabilia has shot through the roof according to the Associated Press, and what’s more precious than a Limo with an interior that was designed by the King of Pop himself?
The car was set to be auctioned in April as part of Julien’s Auctions at the Beverley Hills Hilton, but a dispute halted the auction and the items, including the limo, were never sold.
The singer’s death triggered a surge in the Jackson collectibles market. By as early as Friday morning, hastily designed T-shirts emblazoned with the words “R.I.P.” and “June 25, 2009″ alongside his image were available online. On Friday afternoon, an Internet search for Jackson items turned up more than 24,000 offerings; there was a rush on all auction sites with buyers particularly drawn to the fixed-price “buy-it-now” items.
In addition to surging volume, EBay reported the average selling price for Jackson items jumped 31 percent on Thursday from daily averages the previous week. For example, a fedora hat signed by the man himself was being offered at $9,795.
So if Jackson’s hat is valued at almost $10,000 what do you suppose his Rolls Royce Silver Seraph is worth?
The original auction catalog value of the limo was between $140,000 – $160,000, but now how it’s anyone’s guess.
