Mercedes confirm C-Class Coupé

Mercedes Benz have confirmed that the new C-Class Coupé is ready to be revealed, and will go on sale this summer.

The new model will be a sporty take on the Mercedes C-Class Saloon and will be available in two engine sizes, and both diesel and petrol fuelled versions.

The C-Class coupé will make its much anticipated debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, before going on sale in June, just in time for the sunny summer weather when most of us wish we drove a convertible.

Mercedes say the C-Class coupé is aimed at the 35-45 year old market and the luxury car manufacturer hope the new model will attract new customers who may have not previously considered buying a Mercedes vehicle.

The sporty numbers will be available in a 1.8 litre engine and a 2.1 litre diesel engine with two outputs of 306bhp 3.5 litre V6 petrol and the fastest version is the C530 V6 which achieves a top speed of 155mph and 0-62mph in just 6 seconds.

To add extra kudos to the new Mercedes convertible, the car will come complete with 18 inch AMG alloy wheels, and all cars will have agility control as standard, sports suspension, and speed sensitive steering. The added benefit with the diesel version is the superb fuel efficiency as this version of the 4-seat sports car is able to achieve 64.2 mpg.

P Diddy treats teenage son to Maybach Limo

Rap star and businessman P Diddy has treated his son 17-year-old son Justin to yet another luxury vehicle, this time a collector’s limousine which is estimated to be worth a massive £240,000.

The music maker hit the headlines last year when he gifted Justin with a £186,000 Maybach for his birthday. The extravagant party and lavish gift was shown in its full glory on an episode of MTV’s Sweet 16.

Now his generous daddy has presented him with yet another over the top present, the limousine version of the luxury car he received for his 16th birthday. Diddy explained that the limo gift was to reward his teen son for turning himself around as he’s now an honours student achieving good grades at school, something he wasn’t doing before.

The 41-year-old described the Maybach limousine as a “collector’s car” and the sort of vehicle his son will be able to use on special occasions. Despite the opulent gift of a state of the art limo, Diddy said his son’s tastes are simple and that he’s not impressed by expensive items (in which case, maybe you should take the limo back Diddy?!)

As well as making millions from his music, P Diddy also has his own chain of restaurants, plus a successful fragrance and clothing line, which is just as well as the rap star is father to 6 children, all of which will probably be expecting luxury cars once they hit driving age!

A 1984 Daimler Limousine custom made especially for the Queen is due to go up for auction in the United States during the Pebble Beach weekend in California. It will be the first time a former Royal car has been offered publically for sale in America.

The luxury Daimler limo was built to the Queen’s specific requirements and even has a rear bench area for her pet corgis to travel. A number of other special features can be found onboard including a communications system which was advanced technology for the time when the vehicle was designed.

It’s been revealed that the new limo underwent a 2,000 mile test run before finally being delivered to her Majesty at Buckingham Palace. This was done so as to allow the mechanics and engineers time to finely tune to the state of the art vehicle to ensure the Queen wouldn’t run into any difficulties with her new ride.

According to reports, the Queen would often do away with her official chauffeur and instead, choose to get behind the wheel of the Daimler herself. Sometimes it might be for a trip out around London, or occasionally her Majesty would drive to one of her other residences in the UK.

The Daimler Double Six Long Base Saloon will be on display before going under the hammer at the renowned motor event, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. It’s estimated the Queen’s former personal car will fetch between £60,000 and £80,000.

The charity is offering a stupendous VIP limo trip along with a helicopter ride over the Niagara Falls as its first prize. This is followed up with a spot of wine tasting, dinner at a luxury restaurant, and an overnight stay at a top hotel and breakfast the next day. Les Hoey, a dedicated volunteer from Scotland, has been nominated for a Bighearted Scotland Award and to celebrate the occasion appropriately, Clyde Valley Limos have stepped in to offer their services. Mr Hovey, from Lanarkshire, has been kited out with a brand new outfit for the ceremony too courtesy of a Motherwell kilt supplier.

In his local area, Les Hovey is renowned for the huge amount of hard work he does on behalf of various worthy causes. He regularly organises special trips and surprise outings for children with life-limiting illnesses. However this time round, Les will be the one receiving the VIP treatment. The Bighearted Scottish Awards Ceremony were created to celebrate the unsung heroes of our community who work tirelessly to make a difference to the lives of others.

Local limo hire company, Clyde Valley Limousines, will transport Les and a group of children to the ceremony which will take place at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow. The special passengers will be treated to a luxury ride in one the company’s top limos complete with a suited chauffeur, DVD player with plasma screen and disco lighting.

Prince and Princess Michael of Kent seemed to be reining in their extravagant ways by boarding a flight with budget airline, Easy Jet, to Nice last week. But as the royal couple disembarked from their low-cost flight, they were met by a luxury chauffeur driven limousine waiting on the tarmac.

Despite flying with the economy airline, the couple still enjoyed the VIP treatment. Fellow travellers on the flight noticed that the Prince and Princess were given priority during their Easy Jet trip, being allowed to board and leave the aircraft before the other passengers. Onlookers said Princess Michael looked “immaculate” in a pale powder blue suit and slept for the duration of the flight; she did however, wake up in time to enjoy her ride in the sleek limo.

Lord Freddie Windsor, the couple’s son, is due to marry his actress girlfriend Sophie Winkleman on September 12th. The bride and groom-to-be and the bride’s parents are said to be footing the bill for the lavish affair which will involve 500 guests. Princess Michael has been instrumental in keeping the cost of the wedding down, even calling upon an artist friend to create the invitations for free.

The royal pairs’ decision to fly frugally seemed to suggest that the penny pinching wedding plans had had a profound effect on the Princess, whom the Queen once described as being “too grand for us.” But it seems old habits die hard as the opulent limousine hire demonstrates all too clearly.
