Electric limo super-bus coming to Dubai

An electric powered limo super-bus is being developed for use on the journey between Dubai and Abu Dhabi reducing the 124km trip to a mere 30 minute commute.

The limo bus offers comfortable and luxurious transport for up to 23 passengers. Measuring 15 metres in length, 2.5 metres wide, and 1.65 metres high and boasting eight gull wing style doors, the new super limo is hoping to offer the discerning residents of the United Arab Emirates a convenient and luxurious travel experience.

With a top speed of 250 km per hour, and with plans to create a dedicated road for the limo super-bus running parallel to the main motorway route between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the service will reduce travel times between the two major cities dramatically which will be especially appealing to corporate clients.

The Super-bus limo would not run on a regular timetable, but instead would be bookable by passengers via their mobile phone. Collection and drop-off locations can be arranged according to the clients’ needs.

Another unique selling point of the limo super-bus is the green technology being used to power the vehicle. The vehicle is powered by lithium-ion battery packs which have been developed by the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. The Super-bus underwent its first road tests in Holland last autumn.

The Super-Bus will debut at the Commercial Vehicles Conference in Dubai next month. No start date for the launch of the Super-bus commuter service in the UAE has been revealed yet.

Executive chauffeur car hire firm Cars for Stars axes franchise system

Following the sale of leading executive chauffeur driven car hire company, Cars for Stars, the new owners have announced an end to the franchise system which has been a key feature of the firm since it began.

The luxury car and limo hire company was sold for an undisclosed amount to an anonymous bidder last month. Although very little is known about the new owners of Cars for Stars, a raft of new developments for the company have been revealed.

One of the most significant changes to unfold is the scrapping of the company’s franchise system. Previously Cars for Stars employed operators all over the country to work as licensees under the company name. Now this franchise scheme has been axed by the new team behind Cars for Stars and is due to be replaced with a booking reservation service.

As part of the new shake-up of the company, the new managers at Cars for Stars are currently recruiting new chauffeurs and luxury car hire providers to join the team. Cars for Stars is a nationwide company and is therefore looking to recruit new operators all over the UK.

The new booking system will allow customers to reserve a chauffeur driven car or limousine quickly and securely online. A booking line will also be made available for those customers who wish to reserve their car hire over the phone.

Budding Welsh filmmakers head to their premiere in a white stretch limo

The teenage filmmakers were chauffeured to their film screening in a white luxury limousine

A pair of budding filmmakers were treated to a chauffeur driven limo ride to the screening of their award-winning film this week. A red carpet reception awaited 15-year-old Gruff Ellis, and 14-year-old Guto Sion Jones when their limousine drew up to the screening venue in the small village of Llandwrog, in Gwynedd North Wales.

The youngsters won first prize for their short film, Chwarae’n Troi’n Chwerw (The Vegas Showdown) at the Urdd Eisteddfod this year. Guto roped his family in to play all the lead roles in the movie which is based on gangsters swapping football cards.

The teenagers put a lot of hard work into their film venture, filming and editing the short film over the Christmas holidays. They certainly seem to be reaping the benefits now as they were met with a warm reception at the film’s screening last week as screaming fans were their to greet them as their limo pulled up to the red carpet.

Less than two years after launching their limo hire company, mother and daughter team Pat Christofferson and Heidi Bunnell from Exeter in New Hampshire are celebrating after a receiving a top business award.

The family run limo firm, Reprise Limos, was named Business of the Year in the business service category at the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce recently.

This June will mark two years in business for Reprise Limos who say the company is going from strength to strength. While many firms have fallen by the wayside or struggled to get by during the economic downturn, Reprise Limos say business booming and have even reported a 75% increase in the company’s growth in the last 12 months.

Asked about their recipe for success, the mother and daughter partnership agree that their emphasis upon customer care and satisfaction is what makes them stand out from the crowd.

 Reprise Limos offer a range of services including corporate travel, concierge and hospitality service. Ms Bunnell says she takes a hands-on approach to her business and ensures that she personally drives each new client so as to check that all of their needs have been met.

In a traditionally male dominated industry, the women from Reprise Limos are making name for themselves and hope to build on their current success by developing their business further.
