The new owners of EzLimoRentals.com see the acquisition of the new website as their first step into the American market, something the British company has been keen to pursue for some time according to recent reports. The mystery Managing Director of the UK based company was quoted as saying, “Targeting the American market is something we’ve been planning for some time, however we had to wait for the right opportunity to come our way.”

The anonymous new owner went on to say, “EzLimorentals.com is the perfect way in for our company as our strength lies in our online marketing – taking ownership of a recognisable site such as EzLimorentals.com will provide us with a substantial leg-up into the US market while at the same time providing us with great potential to develop our brand”.

Now the buy-out of the leading American limo rental website is complete, the new owners say they are planning to get straight to work revamping the site. The mystery owner is understood to have successfully developed a range of online products as part of the limo hire business in the UK with a proven track record in strong online marketing.

The company is now planning to take their winning model over to the US with the same web team poised to re-develop the EzLimoRentals.com website to improve the website’s SEO, and boost its overall ranking with the aim of becoming one of the most influential limo rental providers in the States.

NLCA are urging limo operators throughout the UK to attend their meeting in Bradford next week

The National Limousine and Chauffeur Association (NLCA) have announced their plans to hold their annual general meeting next week, on Wednesday February 10th at the Cedar Court Hotel near Bradford.

All limo operators, agents and chauffeurs are urged to attend as all contributions and opinions from members of the limo industry are very much welcome. The NLCA is the self regulated chauffeur and limo association for the UK. They work in-conjunction with all of the official authorities in the country including VOSA, Traffic Commissioners, and the police to ensure a standard is set for a top quality and safe service within the UK’s limousine industry.

At the general meeting limo attendees will have the opportunity to raise any issues which are affecting their business or any problems that they feel need to be addressed. Because of the NLCA’s close working relationship with the authorities, they are well positioned to get these issues dealt with through the proper channels.

This is the one chance during the year for those involved in the limousine business to come together to discuss the direction the industry needs to take. In order for the NLCA to do its job effectively, it needs the support of those working within the limo trade. Individuals and companies from all areas of the limo industry are welcome, so don’t miss out on the chance to have your say at the annual general meeting in Bradford on February 10th 2010.

Limousine hire industry could be killed warns operator

Thousands of stretched limousines across the country could be made redundant from next month if new legislation’s are not taken seriously.

Letters were sent to limousine operators this week by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) giving them twenty days to get vehicles certified to Certificate of Initial Fitness (COIF) standards if their vehicles carry more than eight passengers.

They were also told to make sure they hold a valid Operators Licence, or risk having their vehicles impounded under the new legislation which come into effect in October.

Nick Clarke, owner of Star Limousines based in East Sussex told thechauffeur.com; “Most of the industry received letters this week notifying them of the changes. It basically means that operators like us who run vehicles such as Hummer H2 limousine will have to obtain a COIF certificate if we want to continue trading.”

He added; “Unfortunately this cannot happen overnight and can take weeks to complete and costs around £15,000. Also it takes a minimum of six weeks to get an operators licence. I do fear that many operators will simply disappear when this legislation is enforced.”

Operators throughout the country are being encouraged to attend the UK’s biggest trade event for the limousine and chauffeur industry to hear VOSA talk about the new legislation. The event takes place on 26th and 27th September 2009 at the Transport Research Laboratory, near Bracknell, Berkshire.

‘Apparently’ Limo Hire Business May Never Recover from the Recession

stretch-limos

The limousine hire industry is forever expanding, with school proms, birthday parties, weddings and many other events being celebrated throughout the UK in stretched limousines. So business is booming!

However, there seems to be other (negative) views about the limousine industry… A recent article was posted on another car hire news website which states that the limo hire industry is struggling through the recession. [Below]

Limo and Town car companies are seeing continued drops in their business. With many business starting see the light at the end of the tunnel, a changing trend in corporate travel may have lasting effects for the limo industry.

Throughout 2008, companies have been working on reducing expenses for corporate travel.  While travel itself may be back on the rise, stricter budgets are being enforced and limousines are being seen as something companies can continue to do without.

Many Limo companies are anxiously waiting for the next large scale event or corporate function for their business to go up for a few days. Yet, consistency is way down for luxury car rental and limos all over the world.

A recent survey shows the following:

  • 2008 was the most successful year for hire bookings.
  • There were more limousines booked for school proms in 2009 than ever..
  • There are more legal limousines in 2009 than ever..

Every industry has its fair share of ups and downs, but having worked in the limousine industry for several years I am confident that the limousine industry will only grow, despite the recession and negative press.

Limos to Take That Concert Targeted

take-that

Metropolitan Police Service pounced on suspect limousines as they took transported fans to the  Take That concert in Wembley.

The stretch limousines were stopped and taken to an inspection site in Carey Way, Wembley, Middlesex where officers, working together with VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency), carried out comprehensivemechanical examinations on the different types of limos.

Only two left with a clean bill of health, of the twelve limos stopped by traffic officers last Friday.

At the same time relevant checks were made on the drivers. One limo driver was arrested and later charged for driving whilst disqualified.

Another limo was seized, as the driver was not qualified to drive a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) for hire and reward. In addition there were two driver’s hours offences detected, which resulted in a £200 Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) issued by VOSA.

A further five immediate PG9′s (prohibition notices) were issued for dangerous offences and one limo received a delayed PG9 for a maintenance matter, with two drivers receiving verbal warnings for minor infractions.

The UK limousine industry has been cleaned up recently by, both the operators and VOSA who are working with the Police.
