The Limo Broker finalists for the Transport Broker Awards 2011/12 finally revealed

The Limo Broker finalists for this year’s Transport Broker Awards have finally been revealed ahead of the glitzy awards ceremony due to take place on January 7th at the Celtic Manor Resort and Spa in South Wales.

The awards are split into two categories namely the regional awards and the national awards. The Limo Broker finalists in the running for the regional awards are as follow –

In addition to the fiercely contested regional awards for the limo hire agents of the year for operators working under the Limo Broker brand, a further seven national awards for Best Fleet, Best Customer Services, Best Wedding Car Company, Best Limousine, Best Wedding Car, Best Coach and Agent of the Year which will see all companies working across Limo Broker and Cars for Stars battle it out for these coveted titles. The finalists and eventual winners for the national awards will be announced on the night.

Simon Cowell eyes up Obama’s limousine

X Factor boss Simon Cowell was so impressed by President Barack Obama’s armoured limo during his recent visit to the UK and Ireland that the music mogul has reportedly asked to have his own bomb proof Cadillac especially made.

Simon Cowell’s spokesperson, the well known celebrity publicist Max Clifford, spoke out this week to confirm that the multi millionaire has enquired into the possibility of commissioning his own armoured limousine, just like the President of America.

Obama’s limo, known as The Beast, was shipped over to the UK from the States ahead of the President’s recent visit to the British Isles. The limo was made especially for the President and features a whole raft of high tech safety details including an armoured fuel tank, puncture resistant tyres, bullet proof glass, and much of the vehicle is covered in military grade armour.

If Simon Cowell has already placed hire order for his very own Beast limo, he’ll have quite a while to wait as the limousine will take months, maybe even up to a year, to complete.

Despite offering a level safety unrivalled by other limos, the Beast did get into a spot of bother during the President’s trip to Ireland when the Cadillac got stuck on a speed bump. Luckily, Obama’s blushes were spared as he wasn’t actually travelling onboard at the time.

Hummer H2 Limo Vandalised at St Bede’s Senior School, East Sussex

Over £1,000 worth of damage was caused to a top of the range Hummer H2 Limo as it drove through a street in Sussex. The luxury vehicle was on its way to an end of year school event for staff at St Bede’s boarding school when an unidentified youth threw at glass bottle at the limo as it drove by.

Unfortunately the unprovoked attack is not a one-off incident. The owner of the vehicle, Mr Nick Clarke, who runs the limo hire company Star Limousines explained that “Over the past two weeks we’ve suffered more than £3,000 worth of damage to our cars.”

This sharp rise in vandalism has prompted the company to invest in the latest CCTV technology to attempt to tackle this growing problem.

Police were called to the scene however the perpetrator had already fled the area. The Second Master of St. Bede’s School said the bottle-thrower was not believed to be a student with a grudge and that the incident was “nothing to do with our staff or students.”

The driver of the £100,000 Hummer H2 limo narrowly escaped injury as the glass Pimms bottle hit the vehicle, inches away from the driver’s window. Police are continuing their investigations although no one, as yet, has been arrested.

Wales v New Zealand clash at Millennium Stadium a sell out

hakastandoffTickets for the clash between Wales and New Zealand scheduled to take place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on November 7th have completely sold out. Tickets still remain for the other 3 matches which together make up the Autumn International series. Wales will also take on might of Australia and the Samoan and Argentinean team during the month long tournament.

Last year tickets for Wales v New Zealand sold out within an hour, which was a record for the Welsh Rugby Union. The rush came following the smash success of the Welsh Team in 2008 who were reining Grand Slam Champions at the time. The Welsh didn’t disappoint either with an electrifying start to the match which saw the Welsh boys stare down their opponents in the now legendary Haka stand off. The Millennium Stadium has also enjoyed success on its own merit recently having been voted the best rugby stadium in the world by New Zealand rugby magazine, Fortress.

Filming begins in Cardiff for the new Dr Who

dr whoFans of the BBC1 hit series will be excited to hear that filming is already underway for the new series set to air in spring 2010. Matt Smith takes up the title role following on from hugely popular Time Lord David Tennant.

There’ll be an all new feel to the forth coming series with a brand new Dr and assistant. Karen Gillan is the lucky lady set to play the Dr’s assistant, Amy Pond. The flame-haired actress is the second successive redhead to take on the role following on from comedy favourite Catherine Tate.

The team is all change behind the scenes too with Steven Moffat taking over writing and Executive Producer duties from award-winning screenwriter Russell T Davies. With such big boots to fill you’d expect an element of apprehension to be in the air however it seems the feeling is quite the opposite. The key to the Dr Who success is in its ability to reinvent itself and keep alive the excitement for the audience. Moffat predicts that “Doctor Who is going to come alive on Saturday nights in a whole new way” while audience’s around the country wait with baited breath.

Pictures taken on set today give viewers the first glimpse of the new Dr’s costume. Matt Smith’s Time Lord’s look seems to hark back to days-gone-by with a vintage tweed jacket, bow tie, rolled up trousers and black boots.
