New Sugababe Jade Ewen admits to being scared of Keisha

New Sugababe Jade Ewen has admitted to being “terrified” of bumping into Keisha, the girl she replaced in the chart topping girl band. The former Eurovision star made the admission during an interview ahead of the Sugababe’s performance at this year’s Jingle Bell Ball.

Keisha left the band in September, and her replacement was lined up days after. Her departure from the girl group was blamed on a feud within the band and a breakdown of trust. Although rumours about a problem within the band were rife, it was new member Amelle who was said to have been on the brink of leaving. But instead the only remaining original member of the band, Keisha was ousted, making way for 21-year-old Jade.

However Jade also revealed that she almost didn’t make it into the band after being called off at the 11th hour as the girls decided to give it another go with Keisha. But Jade kept her suitcase close by and it wasn’t long before there was another flare up within the group, and Jade was asked to hot foot it over to join the band.

Jade admitted to being hurt by rumours which claimed that she and Keisha were friends prior to her involvement in the band and that she had stabbed her in the back by becoming her replacement. However Jade was keen to set the record straight on this one and said she has “never met her in my life.”

Sugababe Amelle Berraban has been admitted to a clinic in Europe amid reports that she’s suffering from nervous exhaustion. It comes after what has been an extremely turbulent few months for the band with the only remaining original member of the line-up, Keisha Buchanan being ousted last month only to be replaced within days by Eurovision Song Contest singer, Jade Ewen.

In a statement issued on the Sugababe’s official website, fellow band member Heidi Range has given her explanation of current events. She admits that the last few months have been tough on them all but that the support of their fans has helped them through. She added that the stress “has taken its toll on Amelle and she is now suffering from a severe bout of nervous exhaustion.”

The new line-up were due to take to the stage for the first time during a performance at Leeds and on a German TV show over the weekend. Following the admittance of Amelle to a Private Health Clinic in Europe, both appearances have been cancelled as the sick Sugababe is due to continue her stay at the clinic for at least 3 weeks.

The newly formed Sugababe trio are currently promoting their brand new single which is their first release with Jade, entitled About a Girl, along with their new album Sweet 7.

New Sugababe Jade Ewen wasted no time in getting stuck into her new role. The altered line-up were snapped for the first time yesterday as they shot their new video in the desert outside of L.A only a day after the last original member of the band, Keisha Buchanan, was axed.

Eurovision Song Contest singer Jade was poached from a rival record label to take over from Keisha despite only releasing her first single, My Man, on Monday. Keisha’s exit from the band shocked music fans as rumours had been rife that the most recent addition to the band, Amelle, was due to walk because of friction between the girls. This was further fuelled by Amelle’s no-show at a gig two weeks ago which forced Keisha and Heidi to perform as a duo.

The Sugagbabe’s official website broke the news, however Keisha chose to make a statement through Twitter which succeeded in stirring things up a bit. Writing on the micro blogging site she said: “There were no arguments, bullying, or anything of that sort that lead to this.” But she followed up with this intriguing comment “it was not my decision to leave.”  A spokesperson for the Sugababes’ record company, Island Records, confirmed that Keisha will be staying on with them to pursue a solo career.

Latest Sugababe, Jade, rose to fame earlier this year by winning Andrew Lloyd Webber’s talent search to find an entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest. Despite gaining a high profile from her stint as the U.K representative for the singing competition, a source close to Jade said “she felt she couldn’t say no” to the Sugababe offer.
