New executive chauffeur service offered at Heathrow Airport

Chauffeur driven cars available through Heathrow Airport

A brand new executive chauffeur driven car hire service has been launched at Heathrow Airport.

The new scheme has received full backing from the airport and can arrange chauffeur driven transfers from any UK address with just 24 hours notice.

With so many companies offering chauffeur driven car hire services to Heathrow, sifting out the good from the bad can be a delicate operation. However the new service on offer is fully endorsed by Heathrow airport for added peace of mind for the client.

A range of executive cars are available for hire along with a fully suited and experienced chauffeur. A fleet of Mercedes S Class vehicles are available through the service, these cars are ideally suited for transporting 3 passengers and luggage. If a larger capacity vehicle is required, then the Mercedes Viano MPV is ideally suited to this kind of transfer.

The chauffeur service is available to travellers flying from any Heathrow terminal, on either outbound or inbound flights. As an added bonus, a chauffeur driven car can also be arranged to collect the passenger from their outbound destination as the chauffeur service is also offered in 70 different countries through Heathrow airport.

The National airline of the United Emirates, Etihad Airways, has unveiled its new plans to open an opulent new lounge complete with a free chauffeur driven limousine service. The lounge will be available to those travelling on a business or first class ticket to London’s Heathrow Airport and promises to provide an all-encompassing luxury service.

As part of the sensational development Etihad Airways will be moving their flights from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4. Those lucky enough to be travelling with a first class ticket will be offered the opportunity to make a reservation for a beauty or pampering treatment whilst they wait to board their flight. The service is provided by Six Senses Spa and it’s expected that the leg and foot massage will be particularly popular with fliers emerging or embarking from a long haul flight.

The lounge also boasts its own 5 star restaurant where diners can watch their food being prepared by expert chefs through the open kitchen. Business customers are also well catered for as the lounge offers individual work stations for those who need to knuckle down to some work. Luxury washrooms complete with showers are also provided to allow passengers to freshen up before embarking on the rest of their journey. And to top it all off, there will be a complimentary chauffeur driven limousine waiting to dispatch you to your next destination.

It seems Etihad Airways has thought of everything. The new lounge complete with its sumptuous facilities will be available from September 30th

Jaguar XJ the new car of choice for chauffeurs?

Jaguar XJ the new car of choice for chauffeurs?

Having just unveiled its latest innovative model the XJ, Jaguar has its sights firmly set on targeting the chauffeur car hire industry. The Managing Director of Jaguar, Geoff Cousins, believes this new model will be the first vehicle in some time that will be able to stand up and compete with the Mercedes S-Class which currently dominates the market.

In order to further entice chauffeurs into purchasing the new Jag, the luxury brand is launching a “chauffeur programme” in a direct bid to gain their business. The most appealing aspect of the Jaguar for potential chauffeur owners is, of course, the money issue. The Jaguar XJ is cheaper to run per mile when compared against the Mercedes, the 3.0 litre diesel engine offers excellent fuel consumption rates at 40.1 miles per gallon. Plus service intervals of 15,000 miles also help to keep running costs low.

Chief designer Ian Callum raises the important issue of style. Having a chauffeur driven vehicle is all about displaying a certain image of which elegance and style are vital. This is something Jaguar have very much taken onboard as Mr. Callum says “Style is the raison d’Etre for Jaguar. It was important to produce a modern Jaguar which fits into the 21st century.”

Jaguar have certainly upped their game and look ripe to take over Mercedes’ reign as the chauffeur’s vehicle of choice. They’ve also invested in a high profile advertising campaign at Heathrow Airport which will create a buzz and no doubt, plenty of business for Jaguar. The new XJ is available to order now, with delivery expected in early 2010.

Heathrow Airport unveils new chauffeur-less pod car

Heathrow Airport is about to unveil its latest, innovative form of transport for its passengers. It’s not a plane, a jet or a high speed shuttle but, a pod car driven by a robot. Forget the bus or even a chauffeur driven limo, soon a fleet of battery powered vehicles will soon be seen ferrying business passengers around Terminal 5 of the world’s third busiest airport.

The robot chauffeured vehicle, named Ultra Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system has been in development since 2005. The pilot scheme was ordered by BAA who run Heathrow, from a Bristol based company named Advanced Transport Systems. Now the revolutionary chauffeur-less vehicle is entering its final trail stages with the finished product scheduled to be released at Heathrow towards the end of the year.

Each pod car carries a maximum of 4 passengers and reaches speeds of up to 40 kilometres an hour. The ultra system will begin by carrying business passengers from the car park to Terminal 5. The vehicles have inbuilt computer systems which gauge demand for the shuttle system so its estimated that no one will have to wait longer than a minute for the next pod car to arrive. The current bus shuttle service comes around every 10 minutes so the new pod car will cut down on waiting time significantly.

As well as being a more effective system, its also, crucially, more energy efficient. It uses half the amount of energy in comparison to the bus shuttle which is currently in place. Come the end of 2009, transport at Heathrow will have a distinctly, futuristic feel.
