No rift in the band says Kimberly Walsh

Girls Aloud singer Kimberly Walsh has spoken out to put an end to rumours which have been plaguing the band for months suggesting a major rift between the group’s lead singer, Nadine Coyle, and the other four members.

The singer from Northern Ireland is now based in Los Angeles and this is said to have been a contributory factor in her increasing isolation from the rest of the band. Although Kimberly insists in a recent magazine interview that there are no bad feelings between Nadine and the rest of the girls, she conceded that they have grown apart due to Nadine’s decision to move to the US.

In the interview the Yorkshire born singer says she regards Nicole Roberts and Cheryl Cole as her closest friends in the band, adding that the trio clicked early on now enjoy the kind of friendship she has with her oldest friends.

Asked in the interview if she has plans to marry her boyfriend of 6-years, Justin Scott from the band Triple 8, the 28-year-old admitted that their relationship is “heading” in that direction, before adding that both she and Justin still feel too young to tie the knot.

With Cheryl Cole’s success as solo star, Nadine on the other side of the world, and the other girls pursuing outside projects, there’s no official word on when the chart-topping girl group will reform to create more music.

Cheryl Cole performs at the Brits minus her wedding ring

Despite the obvious personal turmoil the 26-year-old Geordie is facing following the recent allegations regarding her husbands Ashley’s extramarital affairs, Cheryl Cole gave a confident yet feisty performance at the Brit Awards last night, but there was one thing missing…

The X-Factor judge gave one of the biggest stand-out performances of the night involving two costume changes and a raft of slick dancers, yet she chose to remove her £150,000 wedding ring before taking to the stage before an audience of millions.

However the tabloids have been thrown into a frenzy by Cole’s admission of her wedding ring in the past. Only last year during a Saturday night live X-Factor show, the Girls Aloud singe appeared without her wedding ring. Whilst many pointed to problems within the marriage for the absence of the ring, it later emerged it was a style choice as the wedding band didn’t go with her outfit.

Given the recent rumours which have surfaced claiming that husband, Chelsea footballer Ashley, has sent saucy text message to two women, Cheryl’s decision to remove her wedding band for the high profile performance could be seen as more significant.

The audience were with Cheryl Cole all the way, jumping to their feet to give her a standing ovation when she began her set. Ashley Cole was not present at the glitzy London event as he’s currently resting following an ankle operation. However fellow band members from Girls Aloud, namely Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, were on hand to cheer on the Fight For This Love singer during her big performance.

Cheryl Cole gears up for her first solo performance on the X-factor this weekend

Cheryl won't sing live on the X-Factor

X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole will be centre stage herself this week as she makes her debut performance as a solo artist on the Sunday night results show. However the Geordie singer has come in for quite a bit of stick as show officials have admitted that she will be miming the majority of her performance.

Some fans of the show have criticised the decision for Cheryl to mime her track, Fight For This Love, as the show’s contestants are expected to sing live every week and have very little experience of performing in comparison to the Girls Aloud star. However a bad performance from Cheryl on the X-Factor could put the scuppers on her big plans for a solo career which is a risk her record company are not willing to take.

Also taking to the stage that night will be international singing sensation Whitney Houston who will be giving her first UK TV appearance in 12 years. It is not known yet whether Whitney will sing live or not.

However Cheryl is no stranger to performing on the X-Factor. Only last year, along with the rest of the Girls Aloud gang, Cheryl belted out a live rendition of their single at the time, Promise. A show insider said the performance was not as good as expected as the girls had little time to prepare beforehand. To avoid another lack-lustre performance, Cheryl will this year record her vocals in front of a live audience before the show, however she will sing selected parts of the song completely live.

Harlequin Print Group made one 16-year-old’s day when they transformed a pink Hummer limo with a range of graphics and images dedicated to her favourite band. Carly Hughes from Pontypridd near Cardiff is, by her own admission, the biggest Girls Aloud fan ever, so her thoughtful friends and family clubbed together to present her with an extra special surprise for her 16th birthday.

The lucky school girl was treated to a chauffeur driven ride in the exclusive pink limo which had been specially customised for the occasion. Harlequin Print Group had designed a range of digital images of the band, which includes X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole, and a birthday banner which read “Carly Hughes 16 today!” The process of adding the graphics to the limo is known as vehicle wrapping. It can last for up to 5 years although the design can be removed at any time without damaging the original paintwork at all. The limo caused quite a stir when it took the elated birthday girl and a group of her friends on a tour of her local area with many passers-by trying to grab a picture of the attention-grabbing limo on their mobile phones.

As the birthday crew boarded the unique limo a selection of Girls Aloud hits were blasted out from the vehicle’s state of the art sound system. Once the party really got started the fun-loving gang enjoyed a spot of karaoke on the limo’s top the range system, however the song list was limited to Girls Aloud tracks only, obviously.

Carly admitted she had no idea what here loved-ones were planning and admitted to being “gobsmacked” when the limo rolled up outside of her house. She said “I couldn’t have wished for a better birthday. The limo was fabulous and luckily, most of my friends are mad about Girls Aloud too so they all really loved it!”

Cheryl Cole will debut her first solo single on the X-Factor

Cheryl Cole will be putting herself directly in the firing line during the next series of X-Factor as she makes her first solo performance on the live Saturday night show. Fellow judge, Simon Cowell, has agreed to let the Girls Aloud singer debut her first solo single on the hit ITV show.

Reports suggest that the rest of the judging panel, made up of Simon, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue, are all right behind the 26 year old singer. However a source did add “there is always the fear that Simon will say something a bit catty.” Although this is unlikely as Cheryl is a big hit with the music mogul.

Whether Cheryl can rely on Louis Walsh’s support is another matter entirely. The Irish manager recently moaned in a national newspaper that his female colleagues, Dannii and Cheryl, were turning the programme into a fashion show. During his long whinge he said “Cheryl has different hair all the time – new hair, high hair, different clothes. They come in like little peacocks in their high heels every day.”

Despite the fact Cheryl performed on the last series of X-Factor with Girls Aloud, this performance will be a whole new experience for the Geordie singer as she won’t have her band mates around to support her. Although the circumstances are not completely alien to the Cheryl as she won her place in the chart-topping girl band through her performance on the talent show Pop Stars, The Rivals in 2002.

Cheryl only joined the X-Factor last year but managed to successfully mentor the winning act, Alexandra Burke, who is also scheduled to perform on this year’s show. In a twist of fate the two female singers will battle it out in the charts as their two solo albums are released next month. The coming months are sure to bring plenty of drama and excitement as the X-Factor machine swings into action, bring it on!
