Lindsay Lohan in hot water over limo hire bill

lindsay-lohan

Actress Lindsay Lohan is reported to be back in trouble with the law after failing to pay a limo hire bill she ran up in 2009.

It’s been alleged that the Mean Girls actress hired chauffeur driven limousines on a regular basis between February and May 2009 for transport to events and occasions, running up a bill of $33,978. However the bill has since escalated to $90,000 as a result of late payment fees and other penalties.

Despite many attempts to settle the bill, the limo hire operator, Elite Transportation Limo and Security Services who charge £3,860 an hour for chauffeur driven limo hire, say they are yet to receive a many in payment from the actress and model.

A spokesperson for the 25-year-old said that Lindsay Lohan has not been informed of any new charges and therefore refused to comment further on the issue as they were not aware of any legal action being taken against the star.

The limo hire operator has confirmed that they are suing Lindsay Lohan and Tri Star Entertainment for the non payment of their fees.

Lindsay Lohan has become more famous for her brushes with the law than her movies in recent times. In June of this year, Lohan was put under house arrest for 35 days, and ordered to undertake 480 of community service, after pleading no contest to the theft of a $2,500 necklace. The 25-year-old hasn’t had a hit movie since 2005, although she is expected to star in upcoming mafia movie, Mob Street.

Stolen limo found at the bottom of a lake in Canada

limo-bus-lake

A 20-seater limousine bus costing $100,000 has been found at the bottom of a lake in Canada. Police believe the vehicle may have been driven off the cliff and into the water below deliberately.

The giant limo was stolen in the early hours of Sunday morning from Sun Valley Limousine. The vehicle was first spotted submerged in the water in the Okangan Lake shortly after 9:30am on Sunday morning.

The police searched the shoreline around the lake to search for signs of any victims who may have been travelling onboard the limo bus, but are yet to find any indications of passengers. A dive team has been scheduled to search the water where the limo was found to check for any passengers who may have been trapped onboard the vehicle.

However the authorities believe that the signs show the limo was driven off the cliff top, plummeting 100 feet into the lake below on purpose. There is no indication the limo rolled off the cliff as it appears it was driven off the road at a straight angle, as opposed to following the curve of the road.

Before coming to its watery end, the luxury 20-seater limousine bus was hired out for celebrations and events and was especially popular with party-goers attending school proms, hen and stag parties and birthday celebrations.

Drunk man wakes up in limo and drives it home

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA

A reveller in Nebraska who had been travelling on a 40ft limo bus as part of a group of friends is now facing criminal charges as its alleged he woke up in the limo and proceeded to drive the vehicle to his home last weekend.

30-year-old Steven Hunter was caught after his wallet was found onboard the limo after the giant party bus was found parked up a few streets from his home in the Mid West of America.

Police believe the man had passed out in the toilet area of the 40ft long limousine after having a few too many. At 3:30am the chauffeur parked the limo back at the limo hire company’s depot, leaving the keys inside the vehicle.

When the limo company boss arrived at the depot the following morning and found the $80,000 limo bus missing, he raised the alarm with the police.

It is thought that the party goer woke up inside the limo and discovered the keys, at which point he proceeded to drive the limo to his home. However when questioned by police, Steven Hunter denies this, saying he has no recollection of the incidents which lead to the limo being found abandoned in a street near to his house.

The man has since been charged with criminal mischief and unauthorised use of a vehicle.

Limousine used to chauffeur the Pope and astronauts to be sold at auction

pope-limo

A specially adapted 1964 limousine used to transport the Pope Paul VI and astronauts Buzz Aldridge and Neil Armstrong is due to be sold at auction later this month in California.

The Lincoln Continental Limousine was built at the request of the Vatican ahead of the Pope’s planned visit to New York in 1965 where he was due to address the United Nations. The limo was custom made to accommodate the needs of the Pope and his bodyguards with the rear roof section being removed and replaced with glass so as to allow the crowds to see the Pope as he passed through the streets of New York.

Other extra features added to the limo to facilitate the Pope’s visit include exterior step plates, a handrail for the security staff guarding the Pope, a PA system, and also a raised seat area so as to offer the Pope an elevated seating area for the public to see him more clearly.

The limousine was then sent to the city of Chicago where it was used to transport the famous American astronauts, Buzz Aldridge and Neil Armstrong, during a ticker tape parade following their successful space mission to the moon.

In recent times the stretch limo has been in private ownership. The limo is due to go under the hammer in California on August 19th and is expected to fetch somewhere in the region $350,000 which works out as £215,000. Interested parties are likely to be museums and also private collectors.

Prince demands chauffeur driven limo for 25 metre ride to the stage

prince1

Pop singer Prince likes to travel in luxury it seems, even if he is travelling just 25 metres, after it was revealed that the US singer demanded a chauffeur driven limo to ferry him the short walk from his back stage dressing room to the performance area on Sunday night when he performed at the Hop Farm Music Festival.

The American hit maker left festival organiser flabbergasted with this list of demands which would have made even the biggest divas blush.

Prince reportedly asked for his dressing room to be made to his exact specified measurements, with backstage staff having to pull down and rebuild the space on several occasions as the room was too small or too big by a couple of inches. As well as being extremely specific about the dimensions of the dressing room, Prince also insisted that the area be decorated in purple, with all furniture and fittings in the colour purple as well.

Despite having a limousine to transport him the short walk from the dressing room to the stage, Prince arrived at the performance 35 minutes late. However when he did arrive, he gave the crowd a great show, keeping the festival-goers entertained with a two-and-a-half hour set. The singer initially requested to do a 3 hour set, however the festival organisers managed to reach a compromise with the star of 30 minutes less than he initially wanted.

As well a chauffeur driven limo and custom made dressing room, Prince’s rider also said that backstage staff were not allowed to look the star in the eye.

Prince’s headline appearance was his first UK festival appearance ever, and so a major coup for Hop Farm Festival which took place in the South East of England.

The crowds turn out to celebrate the Route 66 Festival

Pink-Cadillac-Route-66

This weekend saw the Route 66 Festival take place at Old Chain in Rocks Bridge and the crowds turned out in their droves to celebrate the history of this iconic American highway.

Although it’s neither the oldest nor the longest road in the US, Route 66 is certainly the most famous. If you’re planning a road trip across America, the 2,400 mile road stretching from Los Angeles to Chicago is the route guidebooks and websites will urge you to take.

The Route 66 Festival has been established to celebrate the road known as the Main Street of America and this weekend the event boasted live music performances, bike rides and classic car exhibitions including American limousines and Cadillac limos.

The festival also sought to raise money for victims of the recent Joplin Tornado, donations were taken on the day from those visiting the event, with all funds being donated to the cause.

So if you’re planning your summer getaway and fancy a change from lounging on a beach for a fortnight, why not hire a Cadillac limo or rent a convertible sports car and travel Route 66 for the ultimate road trip experience.

Football hooligans trash limo at motorway service station

HUMMER-H2-LIMO

Police were called to a service station forecourt this weekend after football hooligans attacked a limousine carrying rival football supporters.

A bus full of Manchester United fans had stopped off at the services of the M6 motorway and started to throw missiles at a luxury custom made limousine when they found out that there were rival Manchester City fans onboard. The limo had just pulled off the motorway to refuel on its return trip from Wembley on Saturday evening.

The thugs threw bottles of antifreeze from the petrol forecourt at the £120,000 limo, and kicked the body panels, and smashed the windscreen before rocking the vehicle violently from side to side. There were 11 terrified people onboard, the youngest of which was a 10-year-old boy.

The limo hire owner estimates that the assault caused £10,000 worth of damage to the custom made limousine after the gang of 15 football thugs descended on the luxury vehicle.

The group travelling onboard the limo were mostly boys with their dads who’d been down to Wembley to see their team play. A replacement minibus was called following the attack to transport the passengers back home safely.

The police were quick to respond, attending the petrol forecourt as soon as the incident was reported. Several of the football hooligans were subsequently arrested.
