Darius Campbell marries Natasha Henstridge in secret Californian wedding

Darius-Natash

Pop Stars finalist Darius Campbell has revealed all about his secret wedding to girlfriend of 7-years, Natasha Henstridge, in an interview with a top celebrity glossy magazine.

The newlyweds, who tied the knot in a secret ceremony on Valentine’s Day, admitted their nuptials were “spontaneous” and that the big day was organised in just 7 days.

Although the couple would have loved to have had all of their family with them to celebrate their wedding, with loved ones spread across Canada, America, London and Scotland, it would have proved difficult to get everyone in one place for a wedding. With this in mind Darius, formerly known as Darius Danesh, and his 36-year-old girlfriend Natasha decided to tie the knot in an impromptu ceremony with just the actress’ two sons present.

30-year-old Darius met his now wife after bumping into her on a pedestrian crossing in Los Angeles in 2004. They got engaged a year after meeting, but split briefly last year with the couple citing work commitments as the reason for the break-up. However within 6 months, the pair were back together again.

After7 years together and a 6 year engagement, it was beginning to look as though the singer and actress would never get around to making it official. The Colourblind hit-maker revealed that after he was involved in an almost fatal car accident while on holiday in Spain last summer which left him with several broken vertebrae in his neck which threatened to leave him paralysed, Darius decided it was time to marry his long term partner as the terrifying incident helped him put his life in perspective.

Official photographs from the California wedding and an interview with the bride and groom are featured in his week’s edition of Hello magazine.

Wedding car swapped for a wedding truck

Bride-to-be Jenna Runacre from Saddleworth had dreamed of arriving on her big day in the back of a horse drawn carriage, however fears over bad weather, and the 3-mile trek to the church, cast doubts over the bride’s dream wedding day transportation.

The 3-mile journey from the bride’s home to the nearby church to marry Gareth Whiteley was a concern to the family as they believed the horse and carriage may take too long, and could also be affected by the possible bad weather.

Not wanting to let his daughter down, Jenna’s father arranged to borrow a 12-litre rig from his friend who runs a haulage company.

In an attempt to create the horse theme Jenna wanted, the black cab of the truck was transformed with coloured horses painted over the outside. The finishing touches were provided with fairy lights and coloured silk which decorated the truck to create the perfect wedding look.

The specially customised wedding truck was a complete surprise to the bride, who was gobsmacked by her ride to the church.

The bridesmaids followed up the bride in her horse themed truck in a sleek chauffeur driven Bentley, while the best man and groom rolled up to the church in a vintage Mustang Saloon.

The bride didn’t seem at all disappointed to have not had her horse and carriage, and described the truck as “absolutely stunning” before hopping onboard and being whisked off to her wedding.

A wedding car hire company in Australia is doing big business thanks to their very British unique selling point.

Steven Olsen and Brian Hickey having been running London Taxi Wedding Services in Warribee for the last 17 years, and during that time, they estimate they’ve chauffer driven 1,246 brides and grooms on their wedding days in their original London cabs.

The businessmen say the majority of their bookings come from couples who have some kind of a connection to London and want to feature the city in their big day. For some couples who may have met in London, have visited the city together, or one pair whom Steven recalls who actually met in a London cab, hiring such as vehicle for their wedding day transport makes perfect sense.

The wedding car hire company owns a total of 8 London cabs, which is especially impressive when you consider there’s only 38 original London cabs in Australia.

Wedding limo carjacked in the US

Five terrified bridesmaid were forced to flee from their chauffeur driven limo over the weekend after a thief broke into the vehicle, attacking the driver, while the party were parked outside a church in Massachusetts.

It’s believed the thief was fleeing a nearby property which he’d broken into and was being pursued. In order to make his getaway he forced his way into the luxury wedding limo, smashing the passenger window with a hammer.

It was at this point that the five adult bridesmaids made a run for it as the robber and the chauffeur wrestled inside the limousine. The thief eventually got the better of the battling limo driver, and made away in the wedding car.

Despite the ordeal, the shaken bridesmaids managed to conceal their terror, and made their way down the aisle behind the bride as though nothing had happened. The bride and groom, Jillian Sherlock and Nikhil Pereira, exchanged their vows in blissful ignorance as no one let on about the carjacking drama for fear of putting a dampener on proceedings.

During the service the police arrived along with a replacement limousine for the bridesmaids. The police took witness statements from all of the bridal party after the wedding in an attempt to build up a picture of the opportunist thief.

The wedding limo was later found abandoned, however the wedding carjacker is still at large.

Wedding car procession made up of diggers

One budget savvy groom from China had the brain wave of swapping an elegant procession of luxury wedding cars, for a fleet of decorated diggers to help save money on transport for his big day.

The groom, Zhang Zongqiang, works for a heavy machinery company so getting his hands on a procession of JCB diggers wasn’t a problem. The 35-year-old hoped the idea would save him and his wife-to-be money, and also ensure their wedding stood out from the crowd.

However the blushing bride, Ye Yuzi, wasn’t so convinced. With her heart set on a classy and sophisticated wedding car, Zhang’s digger idea was a million miles away from her dream wedding day transport.

Despite her reservations, her soon-to-be husband talked her round by promising their wedding would be especially memorable with the inclusion of the digger wedding procession.

The groom’s plan to create a show-stopping spectacle certainly worked, as the streets came to a standstill as the wedding procession of decorated diggers passed through. People stopped what they were doing to catch a glimpse of the happy couple as they passed by standing hand in hand in the bucket of the digger at the head of the procession.

Bride ye admitted she was “freezing” during her ride in the digger before adding, “it was all worth it.”

The newlyweds even handed out sweets to police officers along the wedding procession route to make amends for causing traffic build up with their unusual wedding day transportation.

Bride ditches the wedding car and arrives onboard a yak

wedding-yak

Yesterday was one of the biggest days of the year for weddings with thousands of couples across the world queuing up to get married on the special date of 10/10/10.

China saw more weddings on this date than any other part of the world as the number 10 is especially lucky in Chinese culture as it’s symbolic of completion and perfection.

One Chinese couple were determined to have a wedding to end all weddings on the lucky date and pulled out all the stops to create a big day to remember.

Instead of arriving at her wedding ceremony in the back of a luxurious chauffeur driven limo, the bride arrived on her special day in the Sichuan Province of China riding on the back of a white yak.

The extravagant wedding was thought to have cost 1.6 million Yuan, which works out as approximately £150,000, with the Yak being one of the most expensive items of the day as the animal had to be transported from a far off province of China especially for the ceremony.

It’s been reported that the couple paid 100,000 Yuan, about £9,500, to have the white long-haired bovine beast transported from Yunnan Province to the wedding venue in another part of the country.

The wedding yak certainly had the desired effect as the streets came to standstill as the bride made her way through the city to her wedding ceremony riding on top of the white wedding yak.

Despite the success of the wedding yak, the newlyweds also had a black Aston Martin on standby to make their getaway following the ceremony.

Stranger rescues bride after wedding car breaks down

The 1955 Cadillac had to be towed part of the way to the wedding

The 1955 Cadillac had to be towed part of the way to the wedding

For bride Stephanie Douglas from Ludlow, the memory of the ride to her wedding ceremony will stay with her for many years. The 23-year-old was collected from her home in a stunning chauffeur driven 1955 white Cadillac to take her to her wedding at Ludlow Castle, however disaster struck 10 minutes into the journey when the vintage wedding car broke down.

The chauffeur tried frantically to get the wedding car up and running again but to no avail. Luckily a stranger driving a construction company truck came to the bride’s rescue and offered to tow the car to the Castle so the wedding could go ahead.

The father of the bride, Ken Williams, rang ahead to warn the registrar that they were running late, however the bridal party finally made it to the ceremony, a respectable 10 minutes behind schedule. The chauffeur had even managed to fire up the engine on the Cadillac so Stephanie was able to make the arrival she’d dreamed of.

Caught up in the drama of the moment, neither the bride nor her father got the name of the stranger with the truck who saved the wedding and got them to the castle on time. The bridal party would like to extend their thanks to their mystery hero for saving the day.

However, the 55-year-old classic car struggled on the return journey, and broke down taking the newlyweds to their reception at Mortimer’s Cross village hall.
