Imogen Thomas attended a hearing at the High Court in London today as part of a joint bid with lawyers acting on behalf of The Sun newspaper to have a super injunction lifted which currently safeguards the identity of the married footballer she’s alleged to have had an affair with.
The former Big Brother contestant is challenging the super injunction which has so far kept the married premiership footballer’s name out of the press.
The 28-year-old said in a recent TV interview that she feels as though she’s been “thrown to the lions” as she didn’t have the money to pay for a court injunction to stop her name being made public, unlike the footballer.
Today the Welsh reality TV star and lawyers from the Sun attempted to have the super injunction preventing the name of the footballer being published overturned. However the Judge has upheld the injunction, much to the dismay of Imogen Thomas as she looked stony faced as she left the High Court.
Two of the reasons cited by Judge Mr Justice Eady for upholding the super injunction was to protect the privacy of the married footballer who is also said to have a family, and also because of evidence which could suggest Imogen Thomas had asked for money from the footballer in exchange for her silence on the affair; however this has not been proven or disproven at this point but noted as a factor in the judge’s decision making process.
In an official statement following the court hearing, Imogen Thomas says she feels she’s been unfairly gagged and her reputation “trashed” while the footballer in question has been allowed to “hide.”
