Beyonce confirms Glastonbury appearance

Beyonce has confirmed that she will be appearing at this year’s Glastonbury, closing the festival with a 90-minute set on the Sunday night.

The former Destiny’s Child singer will perform on the famous pyramid stage as she plays out the 2011 festival on June 26th.

In an official statement issued through Beyonce’s record label, the singer says she “cannot wait” to play at the “biggest festival in the world.”

This year’s event is already completely sold out, possibly in reaction to the fact that there will be no festival in 2012 because of the Olympic Games which are being held in London. As is customary with the organisers of Glasto, the complete line-up is yet to be announced, with Beyonce being the only big name to confirm her place on this year’s bill.

However Irish superstars U2 are expected to put in a performance after the band were forced to pull out of a scheduled headline appearance last year after Bono had to undergo emergency surgery on his back.

The Single Ladies singer’s appearance at Glastonbury follows her husband, Jay-Z’s, headline performance at the event in 2008. Beyonce also tagged along to see her husband take to the stage at Glasto and silence his critics with a storming performance.

Jay-Z’s appearance at the festival divided opinion at the time as Glastonbury traditionally has its roots in rock and alternative music, so the inclusion of a hip hop star in the line-up did raise a few eyebrows.

Last year saw Beyonce finish her mammoth I Am…World Tour which played to over 1.1 million music fans.

Beyonce’s mum speaks out over star’s pregnancy rumours

Beyonce’s mother has spoken out this week in light of the recent pregnancy rumours which have surfaced regarding her daughter.

Earlier this week several reports surfaced in the US claiming that the former Destiny’s Child singer is expecting her first child with her rap star husband, Jay-Z. It was thought the award-winning diva had fallen pregnant accidentally as she prepared for her world tour.

However the singer’s 56-year-old mother appeared on a US chat show this week and joked: “The truth is that’s it’s not Beyonce that’s pregnant, it’s me” Before denying the rumours that her daughter was pregnant saying “it’s not true. Not right now.”

Despite her mother’s flat denial of the baby news, the congratulations have been pouring in from other celebrity friends of the couple. Beyonce’s sister, Solange, even remarked “she’ll be a great mom.”

Beyonce and Jay Z work hard to keep their relationship out of the press, the couple even married in secret in 2008 and didn’t admit to becoming husband and wife until many months after the event.

Speaking in an interview earlier this year, the Crazy in Love singer said she would consider starting a family when she’s ready, adding that she’s doesn’t have any time frame in mind for when she plans to become a mother.

Beyonce was seen checking into a Miami hotel this week wearing a very tight fitting dress showing no hint of a baby bump.

Rihanna was riding high last night after partying the night away in London and delivering a triumphant performance at a secret preview gig at Brixton Academy; that is until she made the ultimate girl’s faux pas as she attempted to get into her chauffeur driven limo. The trim 21-year-old made the mistake of teaming a super short red mini-dress with killer heels and then attempting to clamber into the back of her limousine.

The paparazzi waiting outside top celeb hangout, Mahiki, where Rihanna had been enjoying an after show party along with her mentor Jay Z and Beyonce, got the money shot as the pop star leant over to reveal, wait for it…cellulite.

As the singer took her seat in her limo she then gave the photographers another eyeful, this time revealing her nude coloured underwear. The usually composed star could be forgiven for her uncharacteristic behaviour as it seems she may have enjoyed one glass too many of free champagne, as she then proceeded to lie horizontally across the back seat of the limousine.

The umbrella singer is currently in the UK to promote her eagerly anticipated new album, Rated R. Rihanna proved she was back on top form after a spell out of the limelight as she dealt with the legal proceedings in which her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown was charged with assaulting her. Despite a difficult past few months, Rihanna returned to the stage at the VIP show and delighted the crowd with a rendition of her previous hits, as well as some unheard tracks from her new album.

Glastonbury 2010 is a sell out

Tickets for the Glastonbury Festival 2010 have completely sold out in less than 24 hours. It’s in stark contrast to last year when tickets took weeks sell and the in 2007, tickets were still available right up until the start of the festival. Despite the event being 9 months away music fans were keen to get their hands on their tickets for the 2010 event which marks the festival’s 40th anniversary.

Only those individuals who were pre-registered members were allowed to purchase tickets. The move was introduced a few years ago in order to cut down on counterfeit tickets. After the phone lines opened at 9am yesterday morning the switchboard was inundated with calls. Last year 137,000 fans descended upon Worth Farm in Somerset to catch some of the biggest live acts including Lily Allen, Lady Ga Ga, Dizzee Rascal and Tom Jones.

Tickets prices are up £10 on last year with a pass to the Festival which will run from June 23rd to 27th setting you back £185 plus a £5 booking fee. Rumours are already circulating as to the 2010 line-up and Festival organiser, Michael Eavis, is adding to the hype by announcing: “The expectations are really high. We’re trying to get the best headliners in the world.” There have been whispers that Beyonce, U2, Radiohead and the Rolling Stones could be making an appearance on the Pyramid stage to help celebrate the Festival’s 40th Anniversary. Eavis has also hinted that he’d like to have an act from each year of the Festival’s history.

If you didn’t manage to get your hands on a ticket yesterday you could still get lucky; a small number of tickets will be released “in the coming weeks” mainly cancelled tickets and those where the transaction failed. Again only pre-registered members can apply for these tickets so check out the official website for more details.

Cheryl Cole has long been lauded as a style icon. These days, you’d be hard pressed to open a magazine and not find a picture of the Girls Aloud singer. Global beauty brand L’Oreal now hopes to bottle some of that Cheryl charm by launching her as the face of the iconic company in the U.K.

L’Oreal has wasted no time in lining up the X-Factor judge’s first assignment. From next month, Cheryl will be seen in adverts promoting the latest addition to the brand’s hair product range, Elvive Full Restore 5.

The adventurous singer recently dabbled with her hair colour opting for red-tinted locks. The look earned her the nick-name Cherry Cole in the tabloids but the 26 year-old saw the error of her ways and has since reverted back to her normal brunette colour, just in time to promote the new hair product.

Cheryl is out of the country at the moment as she is filming the section where the contestants visit the judges’ houses as part of the X-Factor. She has released a statement in which says “I have always loved the brand and have always wanted to say the iconic phrase ‘because you’re worth it’ so to be given that opportunity is absolutely amazing.” The Geordie singer is said to earn a reported £500,000 from her one year contract.

Previous famous faces for L’Oreal include Jennifer Anniston, Jane Fonda and Beyonce. Cheryl Cole is the first British female to front the brand since Kate Moss was signed up in 1998.
