Stereophonics will play Cardiff Castle

Welsh rockers the Stereophonics will make a welcome return to their homeland with an exclusive one-off gig at Cardiff Castle. The news of the Saturday afternoon event on October 3rd was announced this morning. The occasion will have a distinct nostalgic flavour as the band hark back to their 1998 gig at the Castle during their heyday when they played to 10,000 fans. In a nod to the previous Castle encounter the ticket prices will be frozen at the original price of £12.50 which they sold for in 1998.

The homecoming gig will coincide with the run-up to the release of the band’s 7th album entitled “Keep Calm and Carry On” which goes on sale on November 16th. The Stereophonics will be the first band to play at Cardiff Castle in 8 years. Other top acts that have performed within the hallowed walls include Welsh legend Tom Jones, Status Quo and outside of music, Joe Calzaghe defended his title there in 2002.

The ‘Phonics are expected to showcase some of the new tracks from their forthcoming album as well as some old favourites during the gig. Their latest album has been written by lead singer and guitarist, Kelly Jones and co-produced with Mercury-award winning producer, Jim Abiss.

Since the Stereophonics have played only one U.K festival this summer, the Cardiff Castle performance will be an extremely welcome treat for many fans. Exclusive rates on chauffeur driven limo hire are available for the concert courtesy of Limo Broker. Tickets are released for sale tomorrow (Wednesday September 9th) at 9am on the band’s official website.
