'Amateurish' performance gets a right royal audience
A new British comedy film was given a regal audience at the Royal Film Performance in London this week.
The Queen and her husband Prince Philip were in attendance to see A Bunch of Amateurs, which stars Sir Derek Jacobi and Burt Reynolds.
Her majesty, normally completely reserved in showing emotion and expressing her opinions, was heard to gush that the film was "quite amusing".
Other guests who arrived in their chauffer driven car hire will have enjoyed the light-hearted comedy which sees a washed-up Hollywood actor (Reynolds) tricked by his agent into taking on the Shakespearean role of King Lear.
After the screening, Her Majesty was introduced to members of the cast and crew, including actress Imelda Staunton and editor of Private Eye Ian Hislop, who co-wrote the film.
The title originally chosen for the performance – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – was pushed back from its scheduled release date to July next year.
A Bunch of Amateurs is released in the UK on December 19th.
