Hummer allegedly used by woman to mow down her husband

hummer-H3

A woman from Texas has been arrested on suspicion of using a hummer vehicle to mow down a man, identified as her husband.

It’s alleged that the 23-year-old woman got behind the wheel of the black hummer H2 last Friday evening, steering the vehicle directly towards her husband who was on foot, ploughing into the victim and then driving off from the scene of the incident at high speed.

Gina Solazar from Central El Paso in Texas, USA, was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The deadly weapon in this case was the large hummer truck style vehicle used to run over the pedestrian. Ramon Mercado, the husband of Ms Solazar, was named as the victim and was rushed to hospital on Friday evening following the collision.

Witnesses to the incident reported seeing the black hummer approach the victim who was on foot, mowing down the pedestrian and then leaving the scene of the collision at high speed.

The hummer H2 is a high powered vehicle and has the potential to cause terrible damage when used as a weapon against a person. The authorities are therefore treating the incident very seriously, with the suspect being detained while further investigations are carried out in relation to the collision. There has been no news on condition of the victim or the injuries he sustained as yet.

Cher Lloyd gets stick from Cheryl Cole on Twitter

cher-lloyd-cheryl-cole

Cher Lloyd appears to have been on the receiving end of a harsh tweet from her former mentor, Cheryl Cole this week, after the teenage singer made some unfavourable comments about the Girls Aloud star in a recent radio interview.

The Swagger Jagger singer was asked in the interview for Real Radio North West whether she’d consider performing with Cole in the future, to which Cher replied, only if the Promise This singer would sing live, implying in her next answer that Cheryl Cole uses autotune during her performances. In a separate dig, the teen remarked that she has more chance of winning the lottery than catching up with the X Factor judge who championed her on the ITV show.

The news of Cher’s scathing comments obviously got back to Cheryl Cole who took to her Twitter account to post this message, which is likely to be aimed at the girl many dubbed her protégé, “Be careful who you kick on your way up…they kick twice as hard on your way down #unappreciationisugly.” While Cheryl didn’t explicitly state the tweet was aimed at Cher, many are drawing that conclusion in the light of the X Factor runner up’s recent remarks.

According to 18-year-old Cher Lloyd, not winning the 2010 X Factor and instead coming in fourth place was the best outcome for her as it means she has more control over her music. Matt Cardle eventually went on to become the eventual winner of the 2010 series.

Limo carrying mourners at an Edinburgh funeral hit with parking ticket

parking_tickets

A limousine carrying mourners to a funeral service at an Edinburgh church of Friday were astonished when they left the service, only to find that the funeral limousine had been issued with a parking ticket.

The funeral limo was parked outside of the St Andrew’s and St George’s Church along with the hearse. While the mourners were inside attending the service, a traffic warden came along and ticked the funeral car.

An angry member of the public alerted the funeral directors to the overzealous traffic warden and started taking pictures of the incident. The traffic warned was moments away from issuing a second ticket when the funeral directors pointed out to the warden that they were entitled to park in front of the church. At this point, the parking official called his supervisor to check this was the case.

The coffin was moments away from being taken out of the church when the ticket was issued, however instead of holding up proceedings, the directors took the decision to carry on as planned and ignore the situation out of respect to the mourners.

William Purves Funeral Directors revealed in an interview with the press that they had never received a parking ticket in 124 years in business.

The council have since cancelled the parking ticket which they accept was issued in error on the funeral limo. They’ve also apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Aston Martin DB5 spotted during James Bond filming in Scotland

It seems the iconic James Bond sports car, the Aston Martin DB5, will make an appearance in the latest movie Skyfall as the legendary car was spotted during filming for the movie in Scotland.

While the classy Aston Martin is a familiar figure in the James Bond movies, the car’s comeback in Skyfall will see it take on a different role as the vehicle was pictured armed up with machine guns, the first time the Aston Martin has been seen with a weapons dashboard.

It’s believed the Aston Martin sports car with its new machine gun accessory will be seen in a typical James Bond chase scene for the upcoming new movie. The DB5 has appeared in numerous Bond films in the past including Thunderball, Casino Royale and Goldfinger.

Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench were both photographed shooting a scene in the Scottish Highlands. The actors braved the cold to film scenes for the Skyfall movie which is due to be released at the end of the year, marking the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise.

The silver Aston Martin DB5 also sported the BMT 216A registration plate, the same license plate number as was first seen on the sports car’s debut in 1964’s Goldfinger when Bond was played by Sean Connery.

Limo hire business owner fined for operating illegally

VOSA

A limousine hire business owner from Cambridgeshire has been fined after he was caught operating illegally. Sooty Edwards who runs Skooters Limousines was discovered operating his limo hire company without the necessary licences which lead to the business being hit with a fine of thousands of pounds.

Skooters Limousines were caught out by police and VOSA following an undercover operation after the authorities received a number of complaints regarding the limo hire operator. Mr Edwards was found guilty of driving a stretch limo without a private hire driver’s license and also for using a private hire limo without the correct license.

As a result of the investigation which found the business was being operated illegally, 50-year-old Sooty Edwards was fined £2,700 and also ordered to pay costs of £3,483. The company, limo and the chauffeurs will all found to be operating outside of required licensing laws.

The repercussions of not being subject to proper licensing are that passengers travelling in one of the unlicensed limos would not have been able to claim for compensation had they have been involved in an accident, also the limos would not have been subject to required safety and mechanical checks to ensure they are mechanically sound before carrying fare-paying passengers.

VOSA and the police say they hope the case sends a clear message out to other limo operators that cutting corners with licensing will not be tolerated.

Hired Lamborghini wedding car crashed by groom driving to ceremony

lamborghini-wedding-car-crash

A groom in Australia had plenty of explaining to do when he arrived at his own wedding on foot, despite having forked out thousands of dollars to hire a Lamborghini as his wedding car.

The unlucky groom was left red faced after the white sports car, intended for use as his wedding car on his special day, ended up bonnet-first in a fence after the groom slipped on a wet patch while driving to the wedding ceremony causing him to lose control of the Lamborghini.

Little is known about the identity of the groom, only that he is believed to hail from Sydney in Australia and is reported to have paid $15,000 for the insurance as part of the deal to hire the Lamborghini as his wedding car; $15,000 he has subsequently lost as a result of crashing the luxury super car.

The groom and his best man were reportedly travelling in the hired Lamborghini when the sports car left the road. The wedding party were understood to be running late for the wedding, which may explain how the wedding car ended up in a fence.

The groom is believed to have called the rental company to notify them of the incident and also the location of the vehicle before rushing off to the ceremony on foot. Luckily, neither the groom nor the best man were injured as a result of the accident. The pair managed to get to the church on time too and the wedding was able to go ahead.

While the wedding car didn’t make it to the ceremony, it’s thought the damage caused to the Lambo is repairable.

School prom dress plan for creative pupils in Staffordshire

blue-prom-dresses

School pupils in a Staffordshire high school have a budget busting plan up their sleeve to help beat the rising cost of attending their end of year school prom. Pupils at Maryhill High School studying product design are hoping to win funding in order to make their own prom dresses by recycling second hand clothes, showcasing their final prom dress designs in a full-blown catwalk show.

The cost of attending the school prom is a much-debated subject, with the final bill often running into hundreds of pounds once the price of the prom ticket, dress or suit, hair and make-up and limo hire all adding to the overall expense of the school prom experience.

One group of GCSE students are hoping to save on the expense of the all-important prom dress by scouring local charity shops to find second hand dresses and then use their creative skills to turn these old articles of clothing into unique stunning prom gowns, the local Staffordshire newspaper reports. The students have even contacted TV stylist, Gok Wan, to make him aware of their project and to ask for his top tips on creating winning designs out of second hand pieces.

The pupils have applied for funding from Class Act, a competition run by The Sentinel and sponsored by Barclays Money Skills, as the teenagers hope to win the £5,000 prize which they will use to buy sewing machines to create their designs, also to buy their materials and second hand clothes which they plan to revamp, and also for lighting and cameras for use in the final catwalk show.

Do you think the prom dress recycling project is a good idea? Would you consider creating your own prom dress using second hand items? Let us know your thoughts on prom dress recycling by posting your comments below.
