How Safe Is Your Limo?
Did you know that in the UK, there are strict limo licencing laws that all operators have to abide by in order to insure the health and safety of the passengers. Did you know that there nearly 50% of limousines available for hire in the UK are either incorrectly licensed or worse still, are not licensed at all! Is the limousine you booked legal and safe?
You may just assume that the limousine that you booked is all above board and ready for your great day or night out. But, it is estimated that there may be up to 50% off limousines on the UK road that are incorrectly licensed. What this means to you is that you may be travelling in an unsafe vehicle. It also means that if the limousine gets stopped by VOSA/Department for Transport, You will be removed from the vehicle and it will be seized.
Certificates Required
All vehicles carrying 8 or less passengers must have a SVA or IVA certificate. These codes will be displayed on the DVLA V5 document provided by VOSA to the operator.
All vehicles carrying 9 -16 passengers must have a COIF (Certificate of Initial Fitness) certificate from VOSA.
If they have not passed the test carried out by VOSA on the vehicle, and are still operating, then this is illegal as well as dangerous. Do not accept any vehicles without any of these certificates. Your safety and special occasion will get ruined.
