Gavin and Stacey stars board their unique wedding car

The cast of the smash hit BBC comedy Gavin and Stacy were spotted filming scenes for the 3^rd series on the streets of Barry earlier this month. However it wasn’t the stars of the series who were receiving the most attention, but the customised wedding car which is believed to be the vehicle of choice for the forthcoming nuptials of trucker Nessa.

Ruth Jones who plays straight talking Nessa, and also co-writes the show with James Corden, was pictured with Stacey who was returning bridesmaid duties for her best friend. The bride wore a full length gothic style gown in gold metallic and the bridesmaid was dressed in a turquoise prom style dress.

The bridal party attracted plenty of onlookers as they boarded the unique wedding car. The chariot of choice was a battered brown Austin Metro complete with trailer and flower arch. Bride and bridesmaid were believed to have travelled onboard the decorated trailer evoking images of a low-budget carnival rather than a wedding.

Crowds gathered to watch the filming onboard the quirky wedding car, one of the onlookers said “Everybody had a great time watching and they all seemed in good spirits” although speculation regarding the identity of the groom was rife. Those who caught the Christmas Special of Gavin and Stacey will remember seeing Dave Coaches propose to Nessa by placing a ring in a cigarette packet, however many believe she could end up marrying Smithy, played by James Corden, who is the father of her baby in the series.

All will be revealed when the third series airs at the end of this year so fans will have to sit tight until then. We’ve included a sneaky pic of the offending wedding car to give you a taste of what’s to come. Who knows, the fashion for Austin Metro wedding cars may catch on?!
