Fire engine serves as wedding car for one wacky couple
Fire engine serves as wedding car hire
Newlyweds David and Kate Cowley from Douglas on the Isle of Man dispensed with the traditional wedding car in favour of something more, red. Fire engines and firemen are usually reserved for the hen do but since Kate had just married one, it seemed fitting to have the big red engine transport them on their big day.
27 year-old David has been a fire fighter for 4 years and was able to draft in a dozen colleagues from the Red Watch to help out on the big day. The firemen drove the happy couple from the church in Douglas to their reception at luxury 4 star establishment, the Mount Murray Hotel.
The fireman trend seems to run in the family as David’s father is also a member of the fire service. He enjoyed the day immensely saying it “was such a wonderful occasion” and that everyone had a “cracking day.”
The pair got engaged in equally dramatic fashion. After appearing in an amateur production of the aptly named musical, Disco Inferno, David got down on one knee at the end of the show whilst still stood on stage.
If you feel inspired by Kate and David’s unusual wedding day transport but don’t have a fire engine at your disposal, don’t despair. There are hundreds of wedding car hire and novelty limo hire companies which offer customised fire engines for hire, complete with a fireman chauffeur. You too can have wedding car hire to remember.
