The luxury Maybach supercar was P Diddy's gift to his son on his 16th birthday

Never one to do things by half, rapper P Diddy certainly didn’t hold back when it came to celebrating his son’s 16th birthday as he threw him a lavish £1 million bash in New York, and later presented him with a £220k supercar; just one problem there though, the kid can’t drive.

However doting father Diddy has thought of everything and has even hired a full-time chauffeur to drive the teenager. The German Maybach has impressive form boasting a twin-turbo charged 5.5 litre engine, 550bhp, and clocks up 0-60 in just 5 seconds.

Whilst the chauffeur experiences the joys of driving this exclusive car, 16-year-old Justin Dior Combs will have a chance to get to grips with the extravagant onboard features. There’s a DVD player complete with screens, a surround sound entertainment system, reclining seats and a fridge plus champagne glass holders. There’s another hitch, young Combs isn’t old enough to drink; better hope Diddy had the foresight to swap the champers for cola.

At the over-the-top bash, birthday boy Justin was seated in his own throne whilst a number of top acts, including Lil’ Kim, performed especially. The whole event was filmed by reality MTV show My Super Sweet Sixteen.

As well as the car, 40-year-old Diddy gave his son a cheque for £6,000, which he promptly donated to the charity Yele Haiti. Far from being the spoilt little rich kid, Justin exclaimed that he was “ecstatic” after receiving his special gift, before adding, “I’m so blessed and thankful for all this.”

Bath holds first ever Prom Idol contest for school prom-goers

Bath held a prom idol competition and a fashion show as part of their prom fair

Youngsters from Bath battled it out last week for the coveted title of Prom Idol at a dedicated prom fair held in the city. The event sought to help the teenagers prepare for their big occasion with suppliers and fashion and beauty experts on hand to offer advice and tips.

A range of local suppliers turned out at the prom fair, covering every aspect of the all-important school prom. From Photographers to hairdressers, limo hire experts and suit hire outlets, a great cross-section was covered at Bath Prom Fair.

The event was organised by two local business women, Amanda Farrell who runs the dress shop Drop Dead Gorgeous, and Beverley Lee from another occasion wear boutique, The Clothes Horse. They had their work cut out as they were responsible for arranging the Prom Idol contest, plus a fashion show, and organising for other suppliers to attend.

The Prom Idol contest attracted a great number of applicants, with 50 youngsters eventually vying to win the title. 2 or 3 individual were shortlisted from each school which applied. The finalists were then interviewed by a panel of judges. The event organisers said that they hoped this experience would benefit the young people in years to come when they face interviews for University places, and employment.

The eventual winners of the Prom Idol Competition in Bath were named as Yasmin Wringer and George Robinson. As part of their prize the pair were awarded a suit and prom dress, jewellery and teeth whitening.

Who will be crowned the winner of the last ever Celebrity Big Brother?

Alex Reid is now in line to clinch the title of the Celeb BB winner according to the bookies

Alex Reid is now in line to clinch the title of the Celeb BB winner according to the bookies

The race is now on to see who will be crowned the winner of the last ever Celebrity Big Brother with the final due to take place tonight.

Despite entering the house as the favourite to win, hardman Vinnie Jones has slipped down to third place in the bookies’ ranking after his overbearing behaviour on show saw some viewers turn their back on him.

In an unexpected turn of events Katie Price’s on/off boyfriend, cage fighter Alex Reid has positively blossomed in the house. Before appearing on the show, Reid was unpopular with the public and was badly booed whilst entering the house. However within the space of just three weeks, he seems to have turned public opinion around and is now the odds-on favourite to win.

Another former squeeze of Katie Price, singer Dane Bowers, is firmly in the running to walk away with the winner’s title. Bowers is currently second in line, according to the bookies, to win the last ever series of CBB.

Actress Stephanie Beacham is ranked outsider to win, and the most likely to face the chop first tonight. However there has been speculation that she could follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Ulrika Johnson, and scoop a late win. Ranking fourth in line for the title is singer/songwriter and record producer Basshunter, real name, Jonas.

The voting lines are still open so to get your favourite to win, don’t forget to pick up the phone.

Hummer limo operator receives apology from the police for wrongly impounding his vehicle

Hummerzine limousine wrongly impounded in Manchester, police issue apology

Manchester based limo hire operator, Earls Limousines, have received a full written apology from the Greater Manchester Police after their hummer limo was wrongly impounded before Christmas.

Earlier this month we reported how the 18-seater hummerzine H2 limo, which had a full COIF certificate, had been seized by police after officers questioned the driver’s licence.

The limousine was investigated as part of an operation to crackdown on illegal limo providers. VOSA officials had passed the hummer limo off as legal at the Belle Vue Stadium, but the officers didn’t believe that the chauffeur’s licence covered him to drive the limo for hire and reward, and they subsequently impounded the vehicle.

The owner of Earls Limousines stepped in to try and resolve matters. He explained that the chauffeur’s D category licence did allow him to drive the limo. But this was not taken onboard.

Earls Limousines were then left without one of their most popular vehicles during the busy run-up to Christmas, leaving the company struggling to fulfil reservation made for the limo.

In the letter received this week, the police apologise for wrongly impounding the hummer limo. They also state that the impounding fee of £190 will be refunded to the company. The limo provider is also likely to receive a possible £1,000 in compensation for loss of business during the period whilst the limo was impounded.

Car Hire Companies in North America remove Toyotas from their fleet following a product recall request

North American vehicle rental firms remove certian Toyota models from their fleet after the manufacturers recalled the vehicles

A number of big name car hire companies in North America have had to remove certain Toyota models from their fleet after the manufacturer put out a product recall request after a fault was detected with the throttle pedal.

Avis, Budget, Hertz, and Enterprise Holdings have all announced that they will be sending back the affected Toyota vehicles from their fleets.

In an official statement, car rental organisation, Avis Budget Group, confirmed that they will be removing an estimated 20,000 vehicles in total. They added that the problem is said to “arise out of usage over time” and that subsequently, their fleets have some of the lowest mileage records of any other company, so they have reason to believe that the vehicles would not have posed a hazard to their car rental customers.

Despite shedding such as large number of rental vehicles as a result of the Toyota recall, the Avis Budget Group say they will be able to fulfil all customer bookings and reservations.

Enterprise Holdings have stressed that customer safety is a “number-one priority.” The company has promised that any customer who is currently renting a Toyota vehicle affected by the recall request, will be given an alternative car immediately.

Freecycle gives boost to Bristol Prom Project

The Bristol Prom Project donates dresses and suits so that everyone can enjoy their school prom

The Bristol Prom Project donates dresses and suits so that everyone can enjoy their school prom

The Bristol Prom Project has cannily come up with a plan to get their hands on masses of prom dresses, prom suits and other accessories for no cost at all. The internet swap site, Freecycle has proved an invaluable source for the organisation which seeks to provide youngsters from low income families with all they could possibly need to attend their school prom.

The cost of attending a school prom can really escalate and for some families, the financial burden is too great which means that some teenagers are unable to go to their prom. The Bristol Prom Project believes that no one should have to miss out on this rite of passage and have therefore set up their own project which seeks donations of prom dresses and accessories from the local community, and also scours sites such as Freecycle to source these essentials. They then seek to match their finds with prom-goers across the city.

Freecycle has helped enormously in the Project’s quest for prom paraphernalia. The internet site was set up for people in the local area to unload their unwanted belongings to others who did want it. A mind-boggling array of articles can be found on there at any one time, one University student really got lucky when she got a car off the site for nothing, another group of friends actually furnished their whole house from items found on Freecycle.

As the prom season draws closer, no doubt the Bristol Prom Project will be busy trawling the site in search of gems for their worthy cause. If you have an unwanted prom dress or suit that’s cluttering up your wardrobe, why not do your bit for the prom-goers-to-be and hand it over to the Bristol Prom Project who will ensure it goes to a very good home.

Lookalike Stig chauffeur drives Derby groom on his wedding day

One groom from Derby received an extra memorable wedding gift on his big day. Bride Jennifer Skidmore arranged for a Stig lookalike, the character famous for test driving fast cars on TV show Top Gear, to chauffeur her husband-to-be in a sleek red Ferrari as a special surprise.

The novel gift came as a complete shock to groom Richard who hadn’t a clue he was about to be chauffeur driven in a Ferrari by a well-known face from, British TV, albeit a lookalike. Richard travelled in the Ferrari wedding car along with his best man and his 7-year-old son Joshua. The groom said that both he and his son are big fans of Top Gear so it was the perfect way to arrive at the church.

The groom and his attendants were completely unaware of what was about to happen after they were instructed by the bride to be in their local pub at 10am. 34-year-old Richard said the Ferrari and its famous driver certainly gained them plenty of attention from the other drinkers at the pub in Ripley.

The surprise certainly had the desired effect, and the new Mrs Skidmore was delighted she’d managed to pull off the stunt, as she said: “I wanted to get a wedding present Richard would remember forever and having The Stig lookalike there was brilliant.”
