Michael Jackson sued by Arab sheikh
Beleaguered pop behemoth Michael Jackson is being sued by an Arab prince who claims he tried to re-launch his career.
Bahraini heir Sheikh Abdulla Al-Khalifa is seeking £4.7 million that he says was lent to the singer to cover legal expenses, the building of a recording studio and a host of other costs.
Jackson, who has become well-known for travelling everyone in luxurious stretch limos, says the payments were gifts and should therefore not have to be repaid.
Among the Arab prince's more unusual claims was that he himself had written a selection of songs that the US singer was to record for a new album.
Despite his recent financial difficulties and tarnished reputation, Michael Jackson remains one of the best-selling recording artists of all times.
His 1982 album Thriller was the first LP to top both the UK and US charts simultaneously and is one of the best-selling album releases of all time.
