Hurley tops red carpet poll

Some stunning outfits have made their way down the famous red carpet over the years, but none as memorable as a 1994 Liz Hurley gown, a poll has revealed.

Hurley's risque black Versace dress captured the imagination of 3,000 women, as well as the newspaper headlines, a Debenham's survey has shown.

The outfit was worn to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral, which starred her then partner Hugh Grant.

To find an outfit that has emerged from any limos onto the famous red carpet that comes close to measuring up, we must return to Audrey Hepburn's 1954 Oscars gown.

However, the actress's Givenchy dress failed to have quite the same lasting impact as Liz Hurley's figure-hugging outfit.

A spokesperson from Debenhams noted: "Liz Hurley's daring safety pin dress is one of the most famous black dresses worn on the red carpet, which made her a household name overnight."
