When it comes to arriving in style, there’s nothing like jumping out of a gigantic Hummer limo… especially if it’s your first day at a new school, this would be quite memorable for many years to come.

To make going back to school even better for the youngsters, Eagles Landing Apartments paid for a yellow stretched Hummer limo to take any student living in the complex to Gilchrist Elementary school.

Chris Rohe, a 4th grader said: “It’s awesome. A Hummer and a limo together equals one amazing car!“..

This is the second year that Eagles Landing Apartments got a limo for the students on the first day of school. Students and parents agree that this is a great incentive for the children and could become a future tradition in the local area.

Hummer limos are known for their imposing style and dominant street presence and this is why they are so popular with passengers not only wanting to turn heads, but who want their limo ride to be remembered long after their Hummer has turned the corner.

No credit crunch for Limousine Hire industry

Credit crunch fails to dampen party spirit

Credit crunch fails to dampen party spiritParty-goers are still heading into limos and enjoying parties despite the credit crunch, a new report has found.

Figures from Yell.com’s nine million monthly user input showed most searches carried out on the site in the party sector were for limousine hire, as well as fancy dress and marquees and tents.

Moreover, the analysis found that 85 per cent of people in the UK attend 11 parties every year, with the average Brit planning three of their own.

The average British consumer is spending over £1,000 each year on social gatherings, with people aged 55 to 60 spending the most.

Weddings, hen or stag parties and events to celebrate an engagement or anniversary are seeing guests spend the most, at over £100 per event, the report found.

Consumer Development Director at the company Clodagh Ward told the Press Association: “Despite the current financial climate, the UK’s desire to party continues unabated.”

Wedding car hire with a vintage flavour for Welsh couple

Wedding car hire with a classic feelWedding car hire with a classic feel

It’s not unusual for couples to hire a traditional wedding car for their big day, in fact, it’s a very popular choice. However a couple from Neath in South Wales thought they’d go one better than a vintage Bentley and instead, invite a fleet of classic Minis to accompany them.

Stan Ball and Lydia Lottell held their wedding at Ramada Jarvis in Llansamulet last Saturday. The idea to have a procession of Minis came from the bride, who is a member of the South Wales Mini club.

Her fellow members were more than happy to escort the bridal party on their happy occasion. No less than 12 drivers in their classic Minis drove en-convoy with the wedding procession delighting passers-by and wedding guests so much so, that they almost upstaged the bride herself. The new Mrs Ball said “All our guests thought it was fantastic, everyone commented on how unusual it was and some were filming us as we drove through Tonna,”

The mother of one has been a fan of Minis since she can remember, buying her first one eight years ago. So when it came to choosing a wedding car, it was a no-brainer for the Mini mad bride as she explained “I adore classic minis and I wanted to break away from the traditional wedding car,”

The Club refused to take any money for their service, so the generous newlyweds make a donation of £250 to a charity instead. It may not be everyone’s choice but for this couple, the Mini wedding convoy made their day.

Wedding limo slapped with parking fine whilst waiting for the bride and groom

A white wedding limousine was issued with a parking fine whilst waiting outside Birmingham Registry office. Despite the fact the luxury limo was decorated in ribbons and flowers especially for the wedding and had a suited chauffeur sitting inside, the overzealous traffic warden went ahead and dispensed the fine.

According to the chauffeur of the limo, the canny traffic warden wrote the ticket out from a distance whilst he was sat inside the vehicle. The warden then approached the limo, informed the driver he was parked in a restricted zone, and slapped the pre-written ticket on the windscreen without any hesitation.

The limousine company which owns the vehicle, Home James Limousines, said that in 8 years of operating in the Birmingham area, this was the first time they’d ever encountered this problem. The owner of the company, Ron Parsons, said “I was half laughing and half crying when the driver called us up. It’s not like we were out shopping.” He added “I think it’s pretty petty. We were in the lay-by, which is directly outside the office.”

Staff from the Registry Office jumped to the defense of the driver and attempted to argue his case, but to no avail. The official line from Birmingham County Council is that “A maximum stay of 15 minutes is allowed so long as a permit is displayed. The Register Office holds these permits and issues them when required to wedding cars.”

The limousine company intends to fight the £30 fine and will be making a formal, written appeal against the penalty.

Hummer H2 Limo Vandalised at St Bede’s Senior School, East Sussex

Over £1,000 worth of damage was caused to a top of the range Hummer H2 Limo as it drove through a street in Sussex. The luxury vehicle was on its way to an end of year school event for staff at St Bede’s boarding school when an unidentified youth threw at glass bottle at the limo as it drove by.

Unfortunately the unprovoked attack is not a one-off incident. The owner of the vehicle, Mr Nick Clarke, who runs the limo hire company Star Limousines explained that “Over the past two weeks we’ve suffered more than £3,000 worth of damage to our cars.”

This sharp rise in vandalism has prompted the company to invest in the latest CCTV technology to attempt to tackle this growing problem.

Police were called to the scene however the perpetrator had already fled the area. The Second Master of St. Bede’s School said the bottle-thrower was not believed to be a student with a grudge and that the incident was “nothing to do with our staff or students.”

The driver of the £100,000 Hummer H2 limo narrowly escaped injury as the glass Pimms bottle hit the vehicle, inches away from the driver’s window. Police are continuing their investigations although no one, as yet, has been arrested.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is being urged to contact PC Jessica Reynolds at Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 2273 of July 3. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Brad Pitt surprises everyone with appearance at première

brad-pittBrad Pitt surprised everyone last night by showing up, unannounced, to the première of new Hollywood blockbuster “The Time Travellers Wife”. The film, which Pitt produced, was being shown for the first time at the Zeigfield Theatre in New York when Brad arrived in a black lincoln town car limo to the shock of all of the fans, cast and crew of the film. Pitt attended the première alone, just two days after the première for Quentin Tarrantino’s film Inglourious Basterds in which he is the lead actor.

The film, an adaptation of the popular novel of the same name from Audrey Niffenegger, is about the story of a man who carries a genetic disorder that causes him to fall through time each time he becomes stressed and stars Eric Bana, who recently played Doctor McCoy in the recent successful Star Trek reboot, as the time traveller. The film has been receiving mixed reviews with some critics praising its outlandish plot whilst others condemning it for being “ridiculous”.

The film has spent a long time in production due to the rights being owned by Plan B Entertainment, which was founded by Pitt and former partner Jennifer Aniston. It took a few years but Pitt took full ownership of the troubled firm in 2006 and now has several films in the pipeline for the next two years. His surprise appearance yesterday will certainly do no harm for the publicity or success of his latest film.
