Limo Broker on target for highest January booking rate on record

Limo Broker report record number of sales this January

Limo Broker have kicked off 2010 with a bang, and are on track to announce their highest January booking rate ever recorded at the company. Thanks to sophisticated marketing strategies, clever use of social networking sites and their massively successful January sale discounts, the limo hire giant looks set to have a bumper year.

The introduction of huge discounted rates on limo hire during January has encouraged a great number of customers to book early in order to cash in on the lower prices. Bookings for school proms and weddings have been two of the biggest sellers. These kinds of customers are more likely to book early, as during the peak prom and wedding season, limos tend to get booked out very quickly so it’s advisable to arrange your limo hire as soon as your date is confirmed.

Managing Director of Limo Broker, Tej Randeva, is confident the company can continue their successful streak right through 2010 as he says: “After the great response we’ve received from our January Sale which has resulted in a record number of bookings, we have come up with some other new and exciting offers for our customers for the coming months; details of those will be released very soon.”

Limo Broker has also reported a very positive response from their pages on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. A huge number of enquiries are being generated from these sites, one of the main reasons for this is because of its ease of use. Customers can ask for a quote whilst chatting to their friends on Facebook which takes the strain out of searching for cheap limo hire. Also new customers have the benefit of reading reviews from previous customers which enables them to book with confidence having seen the positive feedback from others.

All special offers and last minute deals for cheap limo hire are always advertised on the Facebook and Twitter pages firstly, so keep your eyes peeled for more discount offers in the coming weeks.

Katy Perry fuels pregnancy rumours with intriguing Twitter posts and baby shop visits

Rumours are rife that Katy Perry is having Russell Brand's baby

Katy Perry’s whirlwind romance with Russell Brand certainly seems to have stepped up a gear in the past week. Fresh from the news that the pair had got engaged on New Year’s Eve whilst on holiday in India, the showbiz rumour mill went into overdrive with whispers that the 25-year-old singer may be pregnant.

So not a grand romantic gesture but a shotgun wedding? Some seem to think the loved-up pair are hiding a big secret, although one of the two isn’t doing a very good job of hiding it at all.

Twitter has played a major role in the celeb couple’s relationship so far, with the duo sharing photos and soppy messages left, right and centre. So it’s not surprising to hear that Katy Perry has let a few intriguing Twitter posts slip in recent days. On News Year’s Day she wrote on the micro blog site: “Let me tell you 2010 is BUMPIN!” and in a message to her comedian fiancé she wrote: “I heard ur prego-ed.”

The new IT couple headed out for a spot of lunch on Sunday in Hampstead, London. Katy proudly showed off her engagement ring as the pair dined at Café Rouge. According to a source at the eatery, Katy asked for her scrambled eggs to be “well done” and when they ordered chips she declared loudly to the waiter, “hold the mayo.” Pregnant women are advised against eating mayo as it contains uncooked eggs which can be harmful to unborn babies.

And if that wasn’t enough, Russell and Katy then made their may to a nearby baby shop and cooed over the little bootees on display.

Could it be that the love-struck couple simply can’t contain their excitement at the baby news, or are they having a laugh at the press’ expense? Only time will tell…

Jonathan Ross announces departure from BBC

Jonathan Ross set to leave the BBC after 13 years

After 13 years broadcasting across a variety of BBC shows, Jonathan Ross has announced he is to leave the corporation having decided to not re-negotiate his contract when it comes up for renewal in the summer.

The 49-year-old presenter is one of the Beeb’s highest earners and one of its most popular stars. He currently fronts his own Radio 2 show and the Friday Night With Jonathan Ross chat show, plus a film review programme.

After delivering the news that he was leaving, he stressed the decision was not motivated by money. Other top BBC personalities like Chris Moyles and Bruce Forsyth have had to take pay cuts from their salary and it was extremely likely that Ross would have had to follow suit. His current 3-year contract is reportedly worth £18 million.

Speculation is already mounting as to who will step into Jonathan’s shoes. Graham Norton singed a two-year-deal with the Beeb just this week and is one of the most likely candidates to take over Ross’s reign. Comedian Michael McIntyre was also mentioned as a possible replacement following on from the success of his Comedy Roadshow which was a big hit for the BBC.

Jonathan finished his announcement on a positive note saying that in the final 6 months of his contract he plans to make “the best shows of my career” which offered some comfort to the die-hard Wossy fans.

Rowan Atkinson auctioned off as chauffeur for charity

Comedian and actor Rowan Atkinson has offered to donate his services as a chauffeur along with one of his prized vehicles, a Rolls Royce, as part of a charity auction organised by the newspaper, The Evening Standard, for deprived children.

However the funny man was spotted in Central London earlier this month on the side of the road awaiting the assistance of a break down recovery tow truck. The 54-year-old had been about to attend a private engagement at Asprey’s with his wife Sunetra when his vintage 1952 Jaguar burst into flames. It is reported that the engine caught fire. Despite the assistance from the RAC, the classic car had to be towed home.

The successful bidders at the auction need not worry as Atkinson as has promised there will be no “Mr Bean moments” when he takes on his chauffeur duties. The character of Mr Bean is one of Atkinson’s most famous comedy creations, gaining massive popularity in the 90’s with a TV series and also a film dedicated to the hapless Mr Bean.

A whole host of celebrities put forward their services as part of the charity auction. Readers of the Standard had the chance to bid for lots including a pint with film maker, Guy Ritchie, an art lesson with Tracey Emin and a chance to have your photograph taken with James Bond Himself, Daniel Craig.

Footie fans who leave limos outside Arsenal Stadium could be served with ASBOs

Parking you limo outside the Emirates Stadium could leave you with an ASBO

Parking you limo outside the Emirates Stadium could leave you with an ASBO

Council officials want to clamp down on the number of rich Arsenal fans who leave their stretch limos in side streets outside the Emirates Stadium by issuing them with ASBOs.

The problem has got so bad that as many as 40 luxury limousines have been cramming up the small streets around the area in Holloway on match days. Often chauffeurs are left to sit inside the vehicle with the engine running for the entire match, much to the annoyance of local residents.

However after a decision was made at a recent council meeting, officials are hoping to use Anti Social Behaviour Orders to prohibit limo companies from parking on the small streets. The ASBOs would be issued to “companies whose vehicles are responsible for this selfish, environmentally unfriendly, and dangerous behaviour”.

Arsenal club officials and players all have their own parking spaces inside the ground so the nuisance limos are said to belong to wealthy fans, and corporate guests who usually watch the match from a box. When you hire a box, you are also given a parking space, however some fans are reluctant to use the space as the vehicles are not allowed to leave the ground until the roads are open again, an hour after the match ends. Alternatively, if a limo is parked outside, they can leave immediately.

In the past the council has tried to combat this problem by issuing parking tickets but this has not proved an effective deterrent as the limo owners are so wealthy that the cost of parking fine hardly registers.

The council is now investigating whether they can legally hand out ASBO’s to offending limo drivers.

Limos take over Indian town

Limos are becoming a very familiar sight in one Indian town

Limos are becoming a very familiar sight in one Indian town

Ludhiana is a small town in the northern state of Punjab in India which is slowly being taken over by stretch limousines. Car hire bosses and taxi drivers have taken advantage of a legal loophole in their local law which means that taxi cabs are not required to pay car tax.

Nothing says success like a shiny luxurious limo, which is why so many of these elongated vehicles are showing up in the town. The limousine is a serious status symbol and taxi owners are keen to display their wealth with a fleet of stretch limos.

It seems no taxi owner in the town wants to be outdone by another, which is why the number of limos is multiplying rapidly as the businessmen play a game of keeping-up- with-the-joneses. One taxi boss estimated there were about 400 limos in the Ludhiana already, he guessed the town could only cope with a further 100 before the roads became grid-locked with the stretch vehicles.

A limo dealer from Ludhiana, 46-year-old Amit Aggarwal, explained the town’s obsession with the stretch limo: “We’re a small place with big plans and having a limousine is a man’s opportunity to show off his status”

Despite the abundance of luxury cars in the town, the locals’ preferred form of transport is either a bicycle or a donkey.

Noel Edmonds goes to collect the sisters in the luxury limo donated by Wild Stretch Limousines

When Kent based limo Hire Company Wild Stretch Limousines were approached by the production team of Noel Edmonds Christmas Party to help with a special surprise for 3 sisters, they couldn’t refuse.

The youngest of the 3 sisters, 9-year-old Lucy, has been battling Leukaemia since the age of 2. The brave youngster underwent years of chemo and radiotherapy to fight the disease, but was told by doctors that the only chance she had of survival would be from a bone marrow transplant.

The whole family were tested, however the eldest sister 13-year-old Charlotte, came out as a 100% match. Desperate to help her sister, Charlotte underwent a painful and invasive operation to extract a litre of bone marrow to give to her sister.

The life-saving transplant operation was a complete success and both sisters have made a full recovery, with Lucy now able to enjoy life to the full. As a result of the chemo and radiotherapy, Lucy is infertile. However her other sister, Bonnie aged 12 years old, has promised to donate her eggs to her sister so she’ll be able to have children when she’s older.

All 3 of the girls pulled together to help each other through a very difficult time, now Noel Edmonds Christmas Party, along with the help of the limo hire company amongst others, have pulled together to deliver the girls an extra special surprise.

The Sky 1 programme production team went to great lengths to create a memorable day out for the trio. Wild Stretch Limousines, an approved agent of Limo Broker, dispatched a chauffeur driven luxury white limo to take the girls from their Kent home, to a top Mayfair hotel. They then headed to the salon of a celebrity hairdresser for a makeover, then off for a private skate session at a leading London attraction, followed by a private garden performance from their favourite pop band.

See how the girls enjoyed their day when the programme is broadcast on Sky 1 on December 20th.
