Mobility scooter transformed into Thunderbirds inspired Rolls Royce

thunderbirds-scooter

A grandfather from Worcestershire hit the headlines last week after he debuted his pimped up mobility scooter which he’d lovingly transformed into a Thunderbirds inspired Rolls Royce complete with a Lady Penelope lookalike doll.

Brian Vann from Evesham transformed his regular mobility scooter especially for a cancer charity race after his wife passed away following a battle with the illness back in 2010. The 74-year-old crafted the silver car from cardboard and foil, completing the iconic Rolls Royce look with his own Spirit of Ecstasy created from a Barbie doll and a life size doll in the passenger seat as his own Lady Penelope.

The retired construction worker said he got a picture of the original Thunderbirds car and worked from that to craft his own unique version of the much loved car. The granddad had some help from a couple of friends who made the Lady Penelope doll which rides alongside Mr Vann in the scooter.

The transformation for the 10mph scooter took its inspiration from the legendary 1960’s TV show, thunderbirds, with Mr Vann taking on the role of the chauffeur in his very own Rolls Royce style mobility scooter.

As well as crafting his own Thunderbirds car, the 74-year-old also created his own Batmobile earlier in the year which he spent several weeks making from scratch.

5-year-old Savannah Nicholls was had been invited to number 10 Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister, David Cameron, when the sick youngster took a turn for the worse during the visit and had to be rushed to hospital in the PM’s personal limo.

Savannah was accompanied by her mother Lisa during the visit which saw a number of poorly children meet David Cameron at number 10 as part of a special party organised by the children’s charity Together for Short Lives. As well as meeting the Prime Minister briefly before she was taken ill, Savannah also got to meet Mr Tumble from the CBeebies show, Something Special.

The 5-year-old from Penzance in Cornwall has been suffering from Leukaemia, Cerebral Palsy and epilepsy since birth, however the youngster was overcoming a chest infection at the time of her visit to number 10 which flared up during the party.

Savannah’s mother, Lisa, was full of praise for Cameron’s aides who quickly ushered the young girl and her family into a side room, which turned out to be the famous Cabinet Room, while they arranged for the PM’s chauffeured limo to collect the 5-year-old and take her to hospital.

After her hospital dash in Cameron’s personal limo, Savannah is now back in Cornwall recovering in hospital, although her family hope she’ll be allowed home in the coming days.

Limo thief flees from scene of the crime completely naked

naked-limo-thief

A car-jacker who stole a hummer limousine at gunpoint in California, US over the weekend attempted to make an unusual getaway after being pursued by police, making a run from the limo completely naked.

The theft of the hummer H2 limo was reported by the chauffeur of the car who told police the robber had taken the hummer from him at gunpoint at 8pm in Irvine, California this weekend. A police chase ensued, with the authorities pursuing the stolen limo in cars and also with the help of a police helicopter.

According to the driver of the hummer, the thief was fully clothed when he stole the vehicle, however he must have removed his clothes during the police chase as by the time he slowed down and bailed out of the hummer attempting to flee on foot, the robber wasn’t wearing a single item of clothing.

The moment the as-yet-unidentified thief rolled out of the limo and made away from the police on foot naked was captured by the police cameras from the helicopter hovering above. The fact the man was naked probably didn’t do him any favours as a German Shepherd police dog tackled the thief to the floor, bringing him down and holding onto him with its jaws until two police officers arrived and handcuffed the man.

The naked limo thief was taken into custody, although the police say it’s still not known why the robber chose to strip off his clothes while making his getaway in the hummer limousine.

X Factor hit by fix claims after Amelia Lily’s winner’s single available to pre-order

amelia-lily

The X Factor has been hit with claims of a fix after Amelia Lily’s winner’s single was made available for pre-order temporarily yesterday, despite the final not having taken place.

The 17-year-old is in the running to win the title of X Factor Winner 2011 along with girl band Little Mix and hairdresser Marcus Collins, however although all three of the remaining contestants have recorded their winner’s single, only Amelia Lily’s track was made available for pre-order through the HMV website prompting suggestions that the winner of the show may have already been decided.

However HMV have been quick to quash the rumours, describing how the website encountered a technical issue while uploading the singles available for ore-order which meant that only Amelia Lily’s single details were displayed although all of the winner’s singles, including those for both Little Mix and Marcus Collins, were due to be posted online for pre-order. The music store said it was a genuine slip up and that the incident does not signal that HMV has any insider knowledge on who will win the competition.

All three of the winner’s singles will now be made available for customers to pre-order via the HMV website, although only the orders for the actual eventual winner’s track will be processed once the winner is announced following this weekend’s grand final.

Amelia Lily’s inclusion in the final three of the competition has proved controversial previously as she was originally eliminated in the first week of the singing competition by her own mentor Kelly Rowland, but re-entered the show halfway through after Frankie Cocozza was axed for breaking the rules.

Lily Allen has taken to Twitter to thank her fans for their kinds messages following the birth of her first child. Although no official announcement has been made, it’s understood the Smile singer gave birth to a baby girl on November 25th.

The singer is known for being a serial tweeter but hadn’t posted a message for a week until her tweet today which read, “Thank you for all the flowers and lovely messages everybody. Very touching indeed. nuff luv x x” Prior to this, the last tweet from the singer came on November 25th, the date she’s rumored to have given birth, which simply said “Totes amaze”.

The news of the baby’s safe arrival is especially happy as the 26-year-old had previously suffered two miscarriages, one last year and another in 2008 while in a relationship with Chemical Brothers’ star Ed Simons.

Lily, who now goes by her married name of Lily Cooper, broke the news of her pregnancy in June when she married her partner Sam Cooper in Gloucestershire where the couple now live.

While Lily is yet to officially confirm the birth or the name of the baby, friends and family have done little to quash the rumours that the baby has indeed arrived with the singer’s sister Sarah Owen gushing on Twitter, “I LOVE my little niece” and other celebrities such as Amanda Holden and Myleene Klass sending their congratulations via the social network.

Hummer crashes into medical centre’s waiting room

hummer-crash

A white hummer limo stunned staff and patients at a medical centre in Bartlesville Oklahoma this week when the driver lost control and crashed through the building, landing the huge vehicle right in the middle of the waiting room.

The driver of the white hummer was reportedly turning the vehicle in the car park outside when instead of hitting the brake, she hit the accelerator, smashing through the exterior wall and right into the waiting room, leaving a deluge of debris and broken furniture in her wake.

Patients who’d been sitting in the waiting room at the Generations Family Medical Clinic in Bartlesville had just been called through to see the doctor moments before the hummer ploughed through the building, meaning no one was left in the direct line of fire of the out-of-control vehicle. Luckily no one was hurt as a result of the accident, only the receptionist received a minor graze to her leg which did not require medical attention.

The driver of the white hummer has not been named, but was reported to be very distressed at having caused the incident. However she isn’t the first to accidentally crash through the medical centre as it’s understood this is the fourth instance in which a vehicle has smashed into the building in the last three years. Due to the high number of instances of this nature taking place, the medical centre is planning to build concrete pillars outside to protect the building from any more accident prone drivers.

The world’s biggest limo available for bookings in California

The-Midnight-Rider

Listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the heaviest limousine in the world, there’s no denying the Midnight Rider is a beast of a limousine and guaranteed to turn heads wherever it goes.

Boasting three separate onboard lounge or entertaining areas, each with their own bars, big screens and phones, the 25 ton 70 foot long limo has more than enough room to accommodate up to 40 passengers very comfortably. However this impressive limousine isn’t cheap to hire, commanding an hourly rate of $1,000, although the limo hire does come with 5 staff including 2 drivers, a hostess and bartenders. The limo is lit with 3.2 million candlepower which is achieved through two mighty onboard generators.

The Midnight Rider took many years to construct, being built between the years of 1997-2004. 90% of the vehicle’s 4,200 different components parts built in-house by the original team who masterminded the jaw-dropping creation.

The interior of the tractor trailer limo was inspired by the presidential Pullman cars of the 1870’s and so features as great deal of polished brass, wood veneer trim and heavy velvet curtains.

Due to its unique style and expansive onboard entertaining space, the Midnight Rider is in demand for events and occasions taking place throughout the South California region, although the 70 foot limo is permitted for travel throughout the USA which means it can be hired anywhere in the country for a price.

Stacey Solomon’s baby news confirmed

Stacey-Solomon

Former X Factor contestant Stacey Solomon has announced she is expecting her second child with boyfriend Aaron Barham and is almost three months pregnant.

The I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star already has a three-year-old son, Zac, from a previous relationship but hopes her second pregnancy will be better than her first as she only found out she was expecting when she was five months gone, leaving her with little time to prepare for the birth.

The 22-year-old made the announcement in an interview with a tabloid newspaper, adding that she was unsure how her 24-year-old boyfriend of three years would take the news as the baby wasn’t planned. But luckily the painter was as chuffed about the new addition as singer Stacey.

At just under three months pregnant, the mother of one isn’t showing even the slightest hint of a bump at the moment, however she predicts that will all change when she hits the five months milestone and suddenly balloons, just like she did with her last pregnancy.

Although Stacey is excited about the prospect of another child, she isn’t relishing the thought of being pregnant as she says there’s not much to like about it when you’re hot and sweaty all of the time and none of your clothes fit.

The face of Iceland also added that she plans to find out the sex of the baby as soon as possible as she’s impatient to know so she can start planning her new nursery and colour scheme.
