Ski limo ride for 100-year-old in British Columbia
A 100-year-old woman celebrated reaching her milestone birthday by taking to the slopes of British Columbia’s second biggest ski resort, in a ski limo.
The ski limo allows a person to enjoy the sensation of skiing, without any of the hard work. The ski limo, also known as a sno-limo, is a cross between a chair and a sledge and is often used by those who are not confident skiers, or have limited mobility. A guide is needed to steer the snow lino, and the vehicle can be hooked onto the chair lift like a normal skier would so they can enjoy the view as they ascend the mountain.
Mel Walker, who turned 100 last week, has always been an adrenalin junkie and was said to have been a big fan of rollercoasters in her youth. Surprisingly, this wasn’t the daredevil pensioner’s first experience of the ski limo, Ms Walker first took to the slopes on the unique device three years ago at the age of 97.
The birthday group were joined on the slopes by a ski guide from the Big White Resort, who ensured the 100-year-old had a safe and fun-filled trip on her big day. The whole party were said to have been very excited about the experience, and the ski limo ride certainly didn’t disappoint.
